The sarai act, 1867. No, restaurants in India cannot deny access to their restrooms to anyone, even if they are not a customer. I am 4 months pregnant. I saw was travelling from gurgaon to meerut. Midway my family decided to stop at this shopping complex to have dinner. I had to use a washroom and i saw this restaurant. I love spicy asian food and i had to use a washroom, being pregant i needed a clean washroom and i was craving for something spicy. I decided to climb 3 floors by staircase and reached here. The lady owner said, the washroom is for our guests only. I explained my situation that mam it is an emergency i have 2-3 hours of carride ahead of me and i need to use a washroom please help me out. She was so rude. Then i had to tell her that by law you cannot refuse water and washroom access. To which she didnt have anything to say, eventually when she realised im a lawyer she said go use it but we dont allow anybody to use washroom etc etc. i felt like i was begging for something that is allowed by law. I said now i dont want it after she was so rude to me. I went outside to click a picture so i could share with my husband that im here come pick me i cannot walk down the stairs by myself. The lady again came back screaming at me asking oh now you are clicking picture to post on social media. Mam i will not only post a picture now i will take a legal action again you also will post reel. Nobody should beg for their right. And you cannot scream at people for just requesting to use the washroom. I have 300k followers. Suddenly when you realised i know the law and i am clicking a picture for social media you were screaming to threaten me not to do anything. If this is how you treat a pregnant woman god knows if you dont even give water to people in need.
REPLYING TO YOUR RESPONSE: You might want to take this up with the government now. I did not make the sarai act. If you are a restaurant owner you should be aware of the laws. Secondly the way you came to shout at me when i clicked a picture of your restaurant? You should be happy i havent posted anything on social media yet. You only made an exception when i said i am aware of the law and you cannot refuse anybody from using the washroom. Not because you had a sudden...
Read moreI have been to Dzükou quite a few times over the past 1.5 years - quite obviously it's a sea-change from your quintessential north Indian and North+Continental affair that used to be the staple of Delhi fine/casual-fine dining scene till about the late 2000s.
There are three prominent North-Eastern restaurants in South Delhi that i have been to- Dzükou, Nagaland's Kitchen and Naga Bamboo.
Out of those three, the strengths of this restaurant are the uniqueness of its cuisine and the relaxed dining environment.
I was somewhat disappointed the last time I was here as the portions have become a bit meagre compared to the last time.
But otherwise, the quality and service is top-notch.
I had suggested to my partner that we don't get momos for two reasons:
why go to a speciality north-east restaurant only to eat dumplings it isn't their forte so one cannot be sure of the age/freshness of the dumplings (or indeed, if they didn't come out of a bag).
I would suggest the same to you - stick to the main course and side dishes.
Cutlery and crockery: 5/5 Health quotient: viable, 4/5 Washroom: small but mostly clean and functional: 4/5 Ambience, food, etc. etc. : 5/5 Price to quantity ratio: used to be 4/5 but has now become 3/5. Bear in mind I am the kind of person who considers anything other than buffet breakfast at 5 stars a colossal inanity. And also I don't eat grains in dinner, so that is also a factor in the fulfilness of a meal. Beverage options: nothing for the health conscious tea-totaller: 1/5
Price for one diner: 1-1.2k Price for two diners: 1.4-2k
Overall, i don't want to ding the place for my last visit, so 4/5 is fair. I wish they would do more...
Read moreWent for lunch today and must say Dzukou really needs to step up the game. Just around a month ago, we had a very good experience.
Today’s meal
The pork ribs were burnt and tasted bitter. Had ordered smoked Pork with perilla seeds which we had relished last time around. We were instead served pork with black sesame instead and the dish was very salty. The staff insisted that it was perilla seeds and not sesame paste when we pointed out. Had also ordered fresh pork with akhuni, which had no akhuni in it and only came with boiled vegetables. Again, the quality of the meat was below par, as was the preparation.
The restaurant is also short staffed which is evident and always was. But today the experience was downright disappointing. Even the staff admitted that there was just one person in the kitchen and one handling online orders and walk in guests both.
Today the staff taking the order probably didn’t realise that we know these dishes and often prepare them ourselves at home.
And when the dishes were served, after almost an hour of ordering, the quality left little to compensate. Even the staff apologised that they are swamped with online orders.
I’m giving one star only because last time around we had a good experience.
After expressing our disappointment the staff promised to “make it up” to us in our next visit. Will we go again?...
