With the younger generation being more inclined towards eating outside, the cafe culture is getting predominantly huge. This new cafe opened it's door a few years back in the top floor of Rex Plaza, College Square, Cuttack. Blast happens to be quite famous for it's decorum and stunning rooftop layout with brilliant lighting and an equally beautiful view of the city. The small place has been utilized in a tasteful way with the use of dim and bright lights and a dark color backdrop. The seating arrangement is quite colorful will lots of cushions arranged for a feeling of comfort and leisure.
Now coming to the dishes :-
Virgin Mojito :- This had a really refreshing taste overall and served chilled, Will freshen up your mood for sure.
Chicken Grilled Sandwich :- The sandwich was well made with quite an ample amount of chicken mince inside. The stuffing inside was well seasoned and had the perfect balance of spices that gave it the punch of flavour. Served with crisp french fries, the dish makes for a large snack.
Mix Noodles :- This was a pretty average dish with nothing worth mentioning. The chicken was rubbery, prawns were okayish and the noodles were too thick and bland. The the quantity was good.
Chilli Chicken :- This was a average dish in taste with the chilli quotient being low.
The location is a add on advantage that attracts crowd of all ages for a visit. Though the space is limited, the servers make quite an effort for your comfort. They also have a different section for hookah lovers with a huge varieties of flavours to choose from.
Service was pretty good too. We had to wait to get a good table but that it would be harsh to say that they didn't try to get the table for us quicker as the place was quite full. The food was served in about 20-25 minutes which was okayish. Will certainly visit this place again because of it's ambience and some of the food items. I believe this cafe can become one of the top notch cafes in Cuttack by just improving the quality of their food with maybe or a little price hike.
Wishing more luck for this cafe on the...
Read moreAs someone who frequents this restaurant and has recommended it to many, I’m genuinely disappointed by the experience my parents had last night.
They were made to wait 10-15 minutes before a waiter even approached them. Despite several attempts to get the attention of the staff, the waiters were simply standing around, chatting amongst themselves.
They ordered two soups - Chicken Manchow Soup and Chicken Hot & Sour Soup - but were instead served vegetarian versions of both, despite clearly requesting non-veg. What’s worse is that the waiter who served them explicitly stated that it was veg. There was no trace of chicken or even egg drops in either bowl. As loyal customers, this wasn’t just surprising - it was frustrating.
When my parents politely pointed out the mistake in the soup, instead of acknowledging the error, the staff began arguing, repeatedly insisting it was chicken - with no visible evidence to support that claim. Not an ounce of chicken, not even egg drops, and yet they were unwilling to accept the fault.
To add to the already poor service, when it came time to request the bill, they were again ignored. Despite multiple calls, no one responded until much later - and even then, it took another 15 minutes just to bring the bill.
This kind of negligence and unprofessionalism is not what one expects, especially as a regular customer. I sincerely hope the management looks into their staff’s conduct and ensures better service and food accuracy going forward - not just for returning customers, but for anyone who walks in expecting a decent meal and...
Read moreBlast is a casual dining restaurant/ cafe..It is located near Ravenshaw University..so one can expect more of the college going crowd. It is on the top floor..so they have an open area for seating. The interiors are done on the music theme. You can see the classic burning guitar crashing on the subwoofer type of elements in the decor and also framed photographs of Bob Marley, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar etc. They have tried to make the place from inside as quirky as possible in order to attract the college going crowd. They play music videos based on the type of crowd inside the place, which i appreciate. So for eg. If you see more couples, then romantic slow Hindi songs are played and so on.
I went there for getting a cold coffee. Was disappointed that due to unavailability of ice cream, they were not able to serve me cold coffee. So I chose to order chicken pan fried momos, chicken lasagne and a virgin mojito. ( Total Bill - 850rs)
Place - 4/5 ( Should check the rooftop after sunset..I went around 3, so couldn't check how the views are in the evening)
Food - 4/5 ( Pan fried momos were a bit sweet for my liking..Lasagne was loaded with cheese, Virgin Mojito was perfect)
Price - 4/5 ( If the target audience is college going crowd, then prices are on the higher side..I suppose rich students might party here)
Kindly note they don't serve liquor.
Overall- 4/5
Would recommend to go here and have a blast
P.S - Sorry for the pics of the food..The server served it on the plate before putting it...
