If there’s one place in the city that captures the true essence of Maharashtrian cuisine, it has to be Sugren Restaurant. Among the many delicacies they serve, their Pithala Bhakar stands out as an absolute star. The dish is fresh, wholesome, and authentic – exactly how it should be. The pithala, prepared with gram flour and a perfect tempering of spices, is smooth, flavorful, and comforting. It has just the right balance of heat and aroma, making every bite feel like a taste of tradition.
Pairing it with their hot, soft bajra bhakri elevates the experience to another level. The bhakri is perfectly made – soft on the inside with a light crispness on the edges – and you can tell it’s served straight from the pan. Together, pithala and bhakri embody the rustic charm of rural Maharashtrian kitchens while maintaining freshness and consistency. Every mouthful reminds you of the simplicity and depth of regional food.
What’s equally impressive is that Sugren has managed to preserve the authenticity of flavors while presenting them in a clean, modern dining setup. It feels like the best of both worlds – traditional food in a welcoming restaurant environment.
The service is fantastic and deserves a special mention. The staff is polite, attentive, and genuinely hospitable. They are quick to serve, always ready to explain the dishes, and ensure that your dining experience is smooth from start to finish. Their warmth adds to the overall homely feeling the food already brings.
In conclusion, Sugren Restaurant delivers a truly memorable experience. The Pithala Bhakar is fresh, authentic, and simply awesome, and when paired with their excellent service, it’s a combination that will keep you coming back. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy real...
Read moreI ordered their Puran Polis on Zomato. What an utter disappointment! The Puran Polis were so underwhelming due to such a pitiful quantity of the Puran stuffing. I felt like as if I was just delivered plain rotis. The stuffing was so less that a customer could feel cheated. And what little stuffing of the puran that was there, it was so flat. It had a little bit of sweetness but there was no seasoning of cardamom or nutmeg or anything basically. Complete disappointment! But what really vexes is that Sugren, in order to cover up for the beggarly stuffing, sends some desi ghee in a plastic bag that you are supposed to add to your Poli if you want. AND FOR ALL THIS THEY CHARGE 180 RUPEES PER PURAN POLI. What a rip-off! I ordered 3 Puran Polis but I was delivered about 6 or 7 in the brown paper bag. I was expecting each Poli to have generous stuffing of Puran with cardamom aroma wafting through the poli. Instead I receive polis with very little stuffing which pretty much taste...
Read moreSugren Restaurant is a great spot for authentic Maharashtrian food. It’s located on the 3rd floor of a shopping mall, so they don’t have their own dedicated seating, but the mall’s arrangement is spacious enough to accommodate over 200 guests comfortably.
The highlight here is the delicious Maharashtrian cuisine, prepared with homemade spices that bring out the true essence and flavor of regional dishes, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. The prices are reasonable, making it a great value for money.
If you're visiting, I highly recommend trying their thali—it’s a perfect way to experience a variety of flavors in one meal. Overall, a must-visit for anyone craving...
