One of the best and oldest place in Pune to have genuine Thai food, which is run by a small family and very courteous host.

There is interesting story behind the Thai House, the owner came to Pune for studying at premier institute and during his graduation years he started appreciating Pune as city. After completing his graduation he thought to start his own venture startup, to showcase the taste of his land. That's how Thai House was born!

I have been visiting this place for at least more than 13-14+ years right from the day it was first started at Dhole Patil road and then it got shifted to Bhau Patil Road which is its current location.

I can vouch that the taste of the food has not changed, it still tastes the same and I beleive it is an outstanding and mammoth task to be achieved for any restaurants to keep the same and best quality with grrat taste. I recently visited Thai House and was glad to see and meet Thai house team after post-lockdown era.

They do take care all the precautions of sanitation and cleanliness. The family is very much pleasent and courteous.

The unique thing about owner and family is that they do remember you as customer even when you visit them after a long gap due to Covid. That's really touching.

Now about food, we had opted for veg coconut soup: which is combination of coconut milk with a bit sweet , spicy and lemon taste with chopped veggies. As usual we were happy to taste the tasty soup.

The starter and main course is offcourse thai curry with white rice is great. They do have various desert you must try, one which stand out is fried ice cream...

Overall, very happy to visit them again and again...

Keep the good work team thai house! In specially these challenging time.

Kudos to owner for  running enterprise for 15 + years. Thats outstanding job!

Good luck team for your future journey.

5 yrs ago, I posted this review: "Very authentic. Better than what you would get in Thailand itself. Cozy place. Well cooked healthy meals. Fried Ice Cream is awesome. Proprietor is himself from Thailand and a nice person."

Let me revise it: I spent the first 26 years of my life in Mumbai and have been living in Pune for the last 11 years. If someone asks to compare living in Pune to living in Mumbai, besides the usual - less crowded, better weather, less traffic getting one point each in favour of Pune, I would also give another whole point to Pune just because I have access to Thai House here. I have visited them multiple times over the years and have brought friends along and introduced them to good Thai food here. It has always been a pleasant experience and we always loved the food here. The food is meticulously made and satisfies all three senses the moment it arrives at the table and you dig into it. We have tried almost all the dishes on the menu and love each on of them. If you come here once, it will raise your threshold for what you expect Thai food to taste like and you will remember it and crave for it anytime someone mentions "Thai food". Of course you will lose your ability to ingest Thai food from any other place after this. During the pandemic, whenever we craved for different flavors, we had them to get take out and that kept us sane when we were restricted to our homes and other restaurants that served foreign...

"DISAPPOINTING AND RUDE SERVICE"

I visited this place once mid July and had a very bad experience.

To start with, the regular water that was given had mosquitos in it. On complaining to the owner, he said I should've asked for a bottled water instead and didn't even care to replace that. Furthermore, he even passed the same water jug to another table instead of throwing the water away. I was stunned to see this careless and rude behaviour of him. (I prefer taking regular water so as to avoid contributing to plastic pollution, which the owner and other such restaurants don't seem to understand for their profits and convenience.)

He gave me a different soup then what I had ordered. Upon noticing it after a few sips and bringing to his notice, he cared to offer replacement (although not believing that he has made mistake). But since I don't like food being wasted, I said no problem I will continue with this. On hearing this, he was like "I asked for replacement, you denied, not my fault anymore!" He neither accepted nor apologized for his mistake.

Now coming to the food itself, I didn't like it personally. The (wrongly served) soup was watery with different flavours not blending together at all. The main course (pad thai) was too sweet and...

The Thai House is quite a "find," a surprisingly good stop for a meal in an otherwise not particularly interesting part of town. Though small, it has real ambience (wooden tables and chairs, Thai dishware and pictures) and amazing food and beverages. Seeing a large group of presumably Thai customers clued us in that this was an endorsement of the authenticity of the place. There is outdoor seating as well. A friend and I shared tom yum soup, green curry, and Thai iced tea. The curry lived up to its inclusion on a section of the menu described aa large enough for two to split. Among my pictures below is one that shows the charming way the curry was served: in a small ceramic pot heated by candle flame. The Thai iced tea was so good that we each ordered another mug. I don't think I've ever done that with iced tea, ever! Our bill was Rs 1,000, including the 2nd mug. When we come back next week to the tailor (Mmagic Ckreations, right across the street) to pick up our new finery and alterations, we're sure to head for Thai House again. My only small recommendations would be to offer noodle options besides pan-fried and other rice options besides the standard white variety that has absolutely no food value because the husk is removed in the processing.

Ordered Thai Morning Glory Pad Thai (Veg) Krang- Phed (Veg) (Thai Red Curry) Kra Prow Gai Rice (Thai Basil Minced Chicken) Garlic Fried Rice Plate We, a group of 5 people visited Thai House's Kitchen a couple of months back. The dishes were absolutely delicious. (aloy-maak maak kha) Everything tasted very authentic and true to it's taste. As I have visited Thailand long back as a kid the kra pao gai rice was very nostalgic. I couldnt get enough of it. The ambiance includes indoor as well as outdoor seating. The walls have images related to Thai Tradition as well as images of their Dearest King. Overall the indoor seating is not very wide but gives a homely feeling. The prices are quite fair, only wished for a slightly more quantity. All and All a great experience, do try them out especially their rice & curry dishes. 2nd Visit : Ordered the Kra Prow Gai Plate + Rice 🍚 Really Delicious, this order is a huge recommendation, it's garlicy spicy minced chicken prepared with fish sauce along with the holy basil leaves punch, order kra prow gai and rice separately rather than the kra pow gai rice set, that way you get more of the savoury minced chicken and gravy which is the star dish for me.
