Beera Chicken House — Restaurant in Punjab

We decided to have lunch at this restaurant during the afternoon, and we were delighted with our experience. One of the highlights was the famous roast chicken accompanied by a traditional mint and chilli chutney. The chicken was incredibly tender and had a delightful pepper flavor. It was presented beautifully, wrapped in foil. When combined with the chutney, it created an explosion of flavors in our mouths.

Our next choice was the amritsari fish fry. The deep-fried pieces of fresh water catfish, known as singhara, were served wrapped in foil and accompanied by a mayo sauce. The fish had a rich and flavorful taste, with a crispy skin that added to its appeal. However, we found the sauce to be rather bland and lacking in excitement.

For our final dish, we opted for the Chicken Malai Tikka, which was served with butter naan and rice. The gravy of the tikka was absolutely delectable, leaving us wanting more. Unfortunately, the chicken itself was slightly overcooked, which affected its texture. On a positive note, the naan was served piping hot and generously topped with butter, enhancing its taste.

Overall, our dining experience was fantastic. The restaurant offered a delightful combination of flavors, particularly with the roast chicken and mint-chilli chutney. Although there were a few minor setbacks with the bland mayo sauce and slightly overcooked chicken, the finger-licking tasty gravy and the scrumptious butter naan made up for it. Had lunch at Beera Chicken while on a short trip to Amritsar. This was only my second trip to the place, having visited it once nearly a decade ago. For my friends accompanying it was the first visit to Amritsar and therefore Beera Chicken. Happy to note that the food is as delicious as ever. Tried the Keema Naan (my friend and I would have shared one amongst ourselves even I had remembered how heavy and large it would be), Roast Chicken (definately a must have), Fish Amritsari Fry (outstanding) and the one vegetarian amongst us tried the Butter Naan with Dal tadka. We having reached the place a little before 1 pm had avoided the lunch rush (which despite being nothing like the evening & dinner time rush still sees nearly all tables occupied), so found the service prompt. Despite over eating we did not feel very heavy and the food was easily digested. The Roast Chicken was succulent and not dry and overdone as it often is in other place, no food colour had been added to it and the taste really stood out as one bit into the chicken. The Amritsari Fish Fry was also outstanding the (Tandoori) Keema Naan was good but you can find equally good Keema Naan in other places too. Beera chicken is among the oldest places in the Amritsar to have genuine punjabi butter chicken and the famous Amritsari fish. It was once the best place to have butter chicken in whole of the amritsar without any doubt, but not so now. The preparation is somewhat ok but not up to the mark. The place is well maintained with drinking water available.Washroom is available which is clean and hygienic. Must try items in the menu are the roasted chicken and the amritsari fish which is still best in the restaraunt.Keema naan is also available and can be shared by 2-3 people as it is quite heavy and comes with a special gravy. Vegetarian dishes are also available like kadahi paneer and shahi paneer which are also good considering it is a non vegetarian restaraunt. Breads are well prepared with specialty being the butter naan which can be had along with any curry dish. The restaurant is not very costly, it costs about 700-800 for 4-5 people.The staff was cooperative and waiters responded well when called. The food was served hot and crispy although it takes about 10-15 minutes and sometimes you may have to wait for more than15 minutes for the food to come.
