Charming Chicken — Restaurant in Punjab

I recently (Today) had the pleasure of dining at Charming Chicken in Amritsar, and I must say, it was an absolute delight. This restaurant truly lives up to its name by serving some of the best food in town.

One of the highlights of my dining experience was the Butter Chicken. The rich and creamy gravy paired perfectly with the tender chicken pieces, creating a mouthwatering combination that left me craving for more. The Fish Amritsari was another standout dish. The perfectly fried fish had a crispy exterior and a succulent interior that was bursting with flavors.

The Chicken Tandoori and Malai Chicken Tikka were also exceptional. The tandoori chicken was cooked to perfection, with a smoky flavor that was simply irresistible. The Malai Chicken Tikka, on the other hand, was incredibly tender and had a luscious creamy marinade that was a true delight for the taste buds.

To accompany these delectable dishes, I ordered Naan and Garlic Naan. The naans were soft, fluffy, and had just the right amount of chewiness. The garlic naan, in particular, had a delightful aroma and added an extra layer of flavor to the meal.

Visited Charming Chicken (Nov 2019) based on what we had heard and we weren’t disappointed at all! It’s a no-fuss quite little place on Majitha Road, Amritsar. We were welcomed by the restaurant manager and the staff with a warm smile. I’ll be honest, seeing the size and interior we were a bit hesitant (and had thought of a plan b) but the warmth of the staff just floored us. The place is small but very neat, the sanitisers bottles kept on each table was very thoughtful however the shrink wrapped plates just did the trick!!! Someone who can think about such tiny details- can never go wrong with the food. We ordered fried fish and chicken malai tikka for appetisers and butter chicken and laccha naans for mains. The fish was delicious, it’s been a while since I’ve had such fresh fish. Even the salad (reddish, beet root, and onions) was basic but delicious. Their red sauce (don’t confuse it to a regular ketchup!) is worth trying, it’s unique flavour really grows on you. Their malai tikka was so lip smacking good. I have no words to describe the butter chicken (which is not sweet)! It’s was just OUT of this WORLD. Each bite of the chicken just melted in our mouths, such nicely done. If there is a thing like ‘food coma’, I was in it! And how can I not talk about the sponge rasgullas- I don’t think I have had anything better ever. I’m sure my Bengali/Oriya friends would challenge this but I am 100% sure these will be as good if not you better- it’s MUST TRY!!!

The owner/head chef Mr Amarjeet Singh is a magician who loves feeding people and has such a warm smile. I have to mention about their restaurant manager (sorry I didn’t ask his name) who runs a very tight ship. From engaging with the clients and providing them suggestions from the menu, to working with the staff- he manages everything on the front end very smoothly.

Absolutely Blown Away by Charming Chicken! A Must-Visit in Amritsar! Honestly, Charming Chicken wasn't our initial plan for dinner in Amritsar, but a recommendation from our cab driver led us to this gem – and boy, are we glad it did! We arrived without any particular expectations, but left completely amazed by the incredible hospitality and the truly scrumptious meal we experienced.

From the moment we stepped in, we were so impressed that the owner himself took the time to attend to each table, engaging in friendly conversations and making everyone feel incredibly welcome. We had a great interaction with him, and his passion for his restaurant and his customers was evident.

And then there's the food! We can confidently say that we had the best fish we've ever tasted at Charming Chicken. It was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and simply unforgettable.

What truly made our experience exceptional was the genuine care and generosity of the owner. Even though we were the last ones to leave that night, he didn't rush us at all. In fact, he graciously handed over a few of his specialities for us to take away, without us even asking! This level of personal touch and thoughtfulness is truly rare and made our visit so memorable.

Charming Chicken exceeded all our expectations and turned out to be a highlight of our Amritsar trip.
