My recent visit to a restaurant that had garnered a considerable amount of hype and positive reviews turned out to be a complete letdown. This establishment, which claimed to offer an extraordinary dining experience, fell short in every aspect, from being over-hyped and over-priced to serving underwhelming portions and lackluster presentation.
Let's start with the presentation of the food. I must say that it was abysmal. I've seen more appetizing dishes at fast-food joints. The plating lacked creativity and finesse, with food carelessly thrown onto the plate without any regard for visual appeal. It was as if the chefs had given up on making their dishes visually appealing and decided to solely focus on extracting as much money as possible from unsuspecting customers. It's disheartening to pay a premium price for a meal that looks like a hastily thrown-together mess.
Moving on to the portion sizes, they were incredibly disappointing. I've never seen such paltry servings in my life. It seemed like they were trying to stretch every ingredient to its absolute limit. The portions were so small that it left me questioning whether I had accidentally ordered from the appetizer menu. For the exorbitant prices they charged, one would expect a decent amount of food to satisfy their hunger. Instead, I left the restaurant feeling more famished than when I arrived.
Unfortunately, the taste of the food didn't make up for its lackluster presentation and meager portions. The flavors were unremarkable and failed to live up to the expectations set by the restaurant's hype. It felt as if the chefs had lost their passion for culinary excellence, resulting in uninspired and forgettable dishes. I expected to be delighted by innovative flavor combinations, but instead, I was left with a bland and forgettable dining experience.
To make matters worse, the service was shockingly poor. The waitstaff appeared disinterested and inattentive, as if they were doing us a favor by allowing us to dine in their establishment. Getting their attention was a Herculean task, and when they finally acknowledged us, their lack of enthusiasm was palpable. It's disheartening to be treated with such indifference, especially when paying a premium price for a supposedly upscale dining experience.
In conclusion, this restaurant's over-hyped reputation is nothing but smoke and mirrors. The over-priced menu, underwhelming portions, lackluster presentation, and unremarkable flavors make it a regrettable dining choice. I strongly urge potential customers to steer clear of this establishment and explore other options that offer a truly satisfying dining experience in terms of taste, presentation, and...

Review: Makhan Fish and Chicken Corner SINCE 1962 I recently visited Makhan Fish and Chicken Corner, a legendary spot in Amritsar, and it lived up to its reputation in many ways.
Ambience The restaurant has a simple and traditional vibe, focused more on the food than the decor. It’s a bustling place with a warm and lively atmosphere, perfect for families, friends, or even solo diners looking for an authentic Punjabi food experience. However, it can get a bit crowded during peak hours, so patience is key.
Food The food here is the star of the show. I tried their Amritsari Fish and Butter Chicken, both of which were phenomenal. The fish was crispy on the outside and tender inside, with spices that felt just right—truly a must-try. The butter chicken was rich, creamy, and flavorful, with tender pieces of chicken that practically melted in the mouth. The naan served alongside was soft and fresh, making it a perfect pairing.
For appetizers, their Tandoori Chicken was perfectly marinated and grilled to perfection, with a smoky aroma that tantalized the senses. The portions were generous, and every bite was a burst of authentic Punjabi flavors.
Service The staff was polite and accommodating, but the service was slightly slow due to the high footfall. Despite the delay, the food was served hot, and the staff ensured we were comfortable throughout our meal.
Pricing The prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food offered. At approximately ₹700 for two people, it provides great value for money, especially considering the rich, authentic flavors and generous portions.
Overall Experience Makhan Fish and Chicken Corner is a gem in Amritsar for those craving authentic Punjabi non-vegetarian dishes. The food quality is excellent, the flavors are unmatched, and the atmosphere is lively. While the service could improve during busy hours, the food more than...
Read moreA warn, welcoming experience overall.
We arrived before the afternoon service (Post 12pm) and we waited and ordered tea before the kitchen opened.
Naresh ji attended our lunch service excellently, in spite of the rush. The food was prepared within a reasonable time period, given our multiple rounds of ordering food. The fish is prepared with exquisite detail, as we ordered three different variants. It is almost without the odor typically expected with ordering fish in restaurants, and both fluffy and crisp to the texture. It supersedes the chicken, which is prepared at par with the excellent Amritsari style of food. The kulchas, lassi and mushroom dishes can compete with any dhaba you will find in the area, and thus make the experience of going here worth it if one partakes in eating the fish with a few beers. The assorted alcohol choices are very welcome, alongside well prepared fresh lime sodas and other options for non drinkers.
Additionally, the staff are very accommodating of requests, packing food with specifications, providing cutlery and accompaniments like achaar, cutlery etc without question. The prices are very reasonable, and being outside the walled city the road networks are very accessible by car or private / public transportation with limited parking slots.
The restaurant is usually full, as we arrived before service started and still saw a mostly packed restaurant, so fine dining enthusiasts may be served better by establishments further away from the city. However for enthusiasts of River fish, this restaurant is well...
