Those whoโve read my reviews already know โ Iโm a big-time momo lover. Wherever there are momos, I reach there in full-on FOMO. ๐
Kalsang in Mohali (3B2) is quite spacious with three floors to choose from, and if youโre into Korean food, the third floor gives you a proper Korean-themed ambience. I had last visited Kalsang years ago in Mussoorie, so this Mohali visit felt like a nostalgic return.
On my first visit, I ordered chicken momos (straight-up yummy in my tummy), veg noodles (hands down the best I had in a long time), and also tried laphing for the first time โ definitely a unique experience. Fried rice and chicken manchurian were decent, but the real winners were the momos and noodles. For drinks, I tried fruit beer and watermelon mojito โ refreshing and not bad at all.
Since I had missed mutton momos last time, I made sure to order them on my second visit, along with kimbap. Both turned out to be amazing โ totally worth it! This time, we sat on the third floor. Fun fact: if you sit in the Korean-style section, you can only order Korean items, but they also have table-chair seating on the same floor for the rest of the menu.
Now, hereโs where my experience took a dip โ service. On my first visit (ground floor), the service was top-notch. But on my second visit (third floor), it was quite the opposite. For a pair of chopsticks, I had to ask five times. Momos came without sauce/chutney (a basic must!) โ again had to request twice. Even billing took 10 minutes and two reminders.
Verdict: The food at Kalsang Mohali is fantastic and worth coming back for, especially if youโre a momo fan like me. But they really need to tighten up on service, especially the basics, to match the quality of their food. Overall, a nice spot for yummy Chinese and Korean food with great ambience, but service consistency remains a...
ย ย ย Read moreOn a rainy Sunday what's better than a bowl of soup !!
Went around 7:30 pm to have soup n chose lemon coriander. Wasn't that great n a bit disappointing for me coz it had almost raw green chillies. Soup isn't something I'd like to have green chillies in. Oops !! Around 8 pm the ground floor was full n even people were waiting for their turn.
Though the food on others tables was tempting enough for more visits. Saw noodles, honey chilli potatos, momos, chicken etc being served on the those tables. No no I wasn't peeping into others tables - I swear - just a glimpse told me all that. ๐
The ambience was great and quite different from usual restaurants. Felt like we are sitting in hustle n bustle of a street. Didn't go to the first floor. We definitely wanted to go but the service guy told something which we didn't understand even when he repeated. Couldn't have afforded to look deaf or idiots after all so we just let it go. Apni bhi koi shaan hai !! N there's always a next time right ? N a lot of options on the menu card to try too ! Shraadh times so no non veg ! But again there's always a next time ! ๐
Overall it was quite a good experience. My friend wanted you guys to know that most of the sitting is wooden benches. N it can be a bit hurting sitting for long time specially to your legs if you are wearing short dress. ๐
The restaurant is not available on dineout or easypay app and that takes away the joy of tini mini discount or coupons on the bill. Ouch !! ๐
I would definitely suggest visiting the outlet for a break from usual restaurants and their...
