If you’re exploring Amritsar and hire an auto rickshaw or e-rickshaw, be prepared—they’ll almost certainly insist on taking you to places like Crystal and Yellow Chilli, even if you show no interest. Why? Because they get a commission for bringing tourists there. They’ll tell you these spots offer the best food in Amritsar, supposedly far better than anything you’ve seen on YouTube or other recommendations. But let me tell you, that was definitely not my experience at Yellow Chilli.
First off, the prices here are ridiculously high for what you actually get. I understand paying a premium for exceptional food, but when the dishes are bland and lack any standout qualities, it’s hard to justify the cost. I had particularly high hopes because this place is associated with the renowned chef Sanjeev Kapoor. With such a big name behind it, I thought I was in for a culinary treat, but I couldn’t have been more wrong.
I ordered the chicken kebab, expecting a burst of flavors and a memorable dish. Unfortunately, it was a real letdown. The kebab was dry, lacking the rich spices and taste you’d expect from a place with this kind of reputation. I wish I could share a photo of the dish to show you what I mean, but after a long, exhausting day of sightseeing around Amritsar’s major sites, I was too tired to even pull out my phone to take a picture. That should tell you how uninspired the food was—I just didn’t have the energy to capture it.
Please take my words seriously and steer clear of this highly priced restaurant. There’s really nothing exceptional here, and the experience left me feeling more disappointed than satisfied, especially given the high expectations I had. If you’re in Amritsar, there are plenty of other places offering authentic, flavorful food without the hefty price tag. Save your money and explore those instead. Yellow Chilli might sound tempting because of the celebrity chef’s name attached to it, but trust me, it’s not worth the hype, the money, or the detour—no matter what the rickshaw drivers...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant on 06-03-2022, we are around 8 people. As other mentioned prices are exorbitant. But we expect honesty on pricing as it was a premium restaurant. But it was not.
In the final billing, u need to consider the following details to not get cheated
As per govt rules, there is only CGST and SGST but these hotels add service charge without our consent. If you ask only they say it is not mandatory else they didn't say anything and charge exorbitant price. for Us it is Rs .1153, Even later we asked they returned with discounted amount reason. (As a pro member I get discount on zomato but they cited the discount and return only discount amount. But they get full amount from zomato.)
Its common waterbottle is pricy in high end restaurant(RS 100/ bottle), but if u drink normal water and himalayan bottle water(this brand they give us). both taste same. So better refuse water bottle, also check on bill for water bottle is included or not. They included the bottle later we left restaurant we get to know. we contacted them but no response on refund.
Most of the food taste common nothing special especially desert, we ordered kesar kulfi rabbadi they simply put a spoon full of rabbadi over kulfi (Quantity wise) and charged Rs.245. even kulfi quantity so small and not even worth Rs100, So my suggestion go for some other good restaurant, for example we go for ZIO last month its amazing experience also food taste great but restaurant size is limited try to do book and visit if you are going in a group.
my rating max is 2.5 that's all, If you have too much excess money to waste on a little spacious restaurant with substandard taste you can visit "The...
