A Divine Experience at the Heart of Bada Danda – A Must-Visit Satvik Restaurant in Puri!
If you’re in Puri and looking for food that doesn’t just satisfy your taste buds but nourishes your soul — this pure vegetarian Satwik restaurant in Bada Danda is a spiritual and culinary treasure. This place serves strictly NO ONION, NO GARLIC food, rooted in purity and tradition — the kind of meal that feels like a sacred offering rather than just food.
We visited twice, and each experience was unforgettable: Day 1: Roti with Santula — light, balanced, and filled with homely flavors. It felt like Prasad from a temple. Day 2: Dahi Pakhala Thali — just speechless! A soulful, cooling, and fulfilling meal that truly reflected Odisha’s traditional Satvik culture.
TASTE: 10/10 Every dish is prepared with such purity and devotion, you can taste the spiritual intent in every bite. Nothing is overpowering — it’s simple, sattvic, and deeply satisfying.
HOSPITALITY: 10/10 The staff is courteous, patient, and humble. They serve you with genuine warmth — something you rarely find elsewhere.
VIEW: 1000/100 — Truly Divine This is what makes this place absolutely unique: a stunning, unobstructed view of the sacred Jagannath Temple right from your table. No other restaurant on Bada Danda offers such a majestic and serene spiritual view. Dining here with the towering Sri Mandir in sight is not just a meal, it’s a moment of devotion.
Now, a humble note to those checking the ratings — Please don’t go by the numbers. The current rating is heavily underestimated. Some low ratings appear to be from people who clearly weren’t looking for authentic Satvik food. I even saw a few asking the waiters for raw onions — at a Satvik restaurant! This place is about purity and tradition, not fast food or masala-loaded meals.
If you’re here for true Satvik food, a spiritual atmosphere, and a divine dining experience, this restaurant is beyond five stars.

Read more🌟 Beware of This Restaurant in Puri – Misleading and Disappointing! 🌟
I recently visited this restaurant during my trip to Puri, a sacred and devotional destination where people from many states, including Andhra Pradesh, come to seek blessings. Sadly, my experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing and frustrating.
👉 Misleading Menu: We ordered a thali, and nowhere on the menu was it mentioned that the meal was limited. Naturally, we assumed it was an unlimited thali, as is common in devotional places. However, when we politely requested more rice, the staff flatly refused. When we pointed out that it wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the menu, their response was shocking — “We have our own rules.”
👉 Poor Taste & Quality: Not only was their behavior unacceptable, but the food itself was bland and below average. For a place that serves devotees and tourists, this was truly disgraceful.
👉 Overpriced & Unfair: They are openly looting money by serving limited food without clearly mentioning it, and by providing poor quality meals.
⚠ My Honest Suggestion: To all fellow Andhra people and devotees from other states — please avoid this restaurant. Don’t fall into their trap. There are many better places in Puri where you will be treated with respect and served good food at...
Read moreThis restaurant is conveniently located near the Puri Jagannath Temple, making it a great spot to stop by after your temple visit. One of the standout features is the terrace seating, which offers a fabulous view of the temple — especially beautiful during the evening when the temple is lit up. The serene location adds a special charm to the dining experience.
As for the food, it’s decent and satisfactory, though nothing particularly outstanding. Most of the dishes are flavorful, but there’s room for improvement in terms of consistency in taste and presentation. The menu covers the basics well, making it a reliable choice if you’re hungry after darshan. Service is generally okay — the staff is friendly and polite, though during busy hours, they can be a bit slow or inattentive.
The ambiance, however, is where this place truly shines. With a nice blend of traditional and modern decor, the setting is peaceful and inviting. It’s a comfortable place to sit back, relax, and enjoy a meal while soaking in the spiritual vibes of Puri.
Overall, I’d rate the experience a solid 4 stars — definitely worth a visit for the location and view alone.
