Disappointing Experience at Former Favorite Spot in Pondy: Cafe Extasi

I recently visited in Auroville and unfortunately, it was a rather disappointing experience overall. Despite ordering a variety of dishes, including lemon garlic chicken, mushroom magic pizza, tofu salad, and lemon iced tea, the flavors and quality fell short of expectations.

The lemon garlic chicken lacked any discernible taste of garlic or lemon, with the chicken itself being overcooked and tough to chew. It was a far cry from the flavorful and tender dish I had hoped for.

Similarly, the lemon iced tea had an overpowering syrupy flavor, indicating a lack of proper dilution. Incorporating lemon slices and fresh mint could have elevated the drink, both in taste and presentation, but unfortunately, these elements were absent.

However, it wasn't all negative. The mushroom magic pizza stood out as a highlight, boasting delicious flavors and a satisfying portion size suitable for two people. Additionally, the ambience of the restaurant was pleasant, providing a comfortable setting for dining.

Despite these positives, the subpar quality of the majority of the dishes was disappointing, especially considering that was previously a favorite dining spot of mine in Pondicherry. Regrettably, based on this experience, I can no longer recommend it with the same...

Firstly we were 6 people and we wanted to dine in the Xtasi cafe beside the Highway but since we couldn’t find it we went to the one in Auroville. The Experience that followed was terrible.

The women who served us had no interest or passion in what she does. It’s a restaurant yaar At least service us with a smile or something lol. We first went to one seat and then changed our seat to the one that was recently vacated. She was reluctant to clean it and asked one of our friends to hand over the dirty plates that was used by the previous customers. Talk about customer satisfaction 🤡. The restaurant then took ages to take our order as well as the extra 2 glasses of water that we asked 20 min ago.

Now about the food. We ordered a large pizza that was customised into 2 flavours and it was terrible. For godsake it was served on a plate that is usually used to close a large biriyani pot. And to add on to that I found a freakin bone on the pizza lol. I’ve attached the picture too.

To sum it up I had the worst experience in this cafe with zero hospitality and the worst pizza I’ve ever ate. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone who wants a peace of mind and eat...

Had the worst possible experience at this place. Where do I start ? We had to wait about 20 minutes before the waiter would even oblige to take our order. He kept ignoring us despite repeatedly calling for him. He seemed to be the only man running the show. Waiting, serving, running up bills. Badly understaffed. When we finally placed our order, we had to wait for an hour to receive our food and the ice tea had dead ants floating on it. The waiter was kind enough to apologise and bring us new ice tea. Can I atleast say that the food was worth the wait ? Unfortunately no. The pizza was thinner than my patience and lacked flavour. It was like chewing on cardboard. We gave up and decided to pay our bill. They brought the bill up with added items we didn’t order and had to rectify and bring us a new bill which took another 5 minutes. If you think this ordeal ends there, you’d be sorely mistaken. The security guard is afflicted with squint and cannot guide your car out on the dangerous main road and would try to do so anyway and he wasn’t able to guide us safely .
