I recently had the pleasure of visiting Bread & Chocolate in Pondicherry, an establishment that specializes in bakery products. As a lover of baked goods, I was eager to try out their offerings, and I must say that I was impressed with the quality of the food.
The bakery at Bread & Chocolate is known for its fresh bakes, and they certainly live up to their reputation. The croissants were flaky and buttery and the pancakes were fluffy and served with a delightful assortment of toppings. The cold sandwiches were also a highlight, with a variety of fillings that complemented the freshly baked bread.
However, despite the excellent food, there were a few aspects of Bread & Chocolate that left something to be desired. Firstly, the popularity of the place meant that there were often long wait times. Unfortunately, there was no proper order in the waiting queue, so it felt like a bit of a free-for-all to secure an available table. This lack of organization can be frustrating for customers, especially during busy periods.
Another factor to consider is the pricing. Bread & Chocolate leans towards the expensive side, which may not be suitable for those on a tight budget. While the quality of the food justifies the higher prices to some extent, it would be more appealing if the prices were slightly more reasonable.
In conclusion, Bread & Chocolate in Pondicherry is a bakery that offers excellent quality food. Their croissants, pancakes, and cold sandwiches are definitely worth trying. However, be prepared for long wait times and a bit of chaos when it comes to finding a table. While the prices are on the expensive side, the overall experience and the taste of the food make it a place worth visiting, especially for bakery...
Read moreHaving been to Bread & Chocolate in White Town last year, we thought of trying out their Auroville outlet.
We went here for brunch around 12 and were greeted by a long queue at the counter. The place was fully packed with people. The system here was to order at the counter, get a token number and find a table (assisted by the staff there who were very polite)
We ordered a wide variety of items: Croissant: It was tasty but there was no microwave to heat it up Mushroom Quiche: Super yummy, everyone loved it Tomato Shakshuka: the sour dough bread was great and so were the eggs in tomato gravy, topped with microgreens Chocolate Pancakes: Easily the best dish we ordered. Don't miss this! Bread & Chocolate: We really don't know what we expected but seeing a dish named after the outlet, we expected it to be some kind of their signature dish. It was just sour dough bread with unsweetened dark chocolate pieces along with honey to pour over. Never ordering it again. Smoothies: We ordered the green smoothie, chocolate smoothie, fig and banana smoothie and tropical smoothie. These were super heavy and filling and I'd recommend and we felt one could have easily served two people. We had to get two smoothies packed (option available at an extra cost) because it was too much for us. Personally, I loved their green smoothie. It was extremely refreshing in the heat.
Overall, it was a good experience but I think the White Town outlet is far better than the Auroville one. The sour dough bread here is something that one should...
Read moreSo, I was in Auroville during my trip to Pondicherry a couple of years ago ; was exploring for some balmy outdoor places to have our morning breakfast. Towards Mantrimandir, we came across this elegant and intimate place called Bread & Chocolate. It is an excellent sit-down space to have a substantial and wholesome breakfast. Although, I would suggest you to go bit early as they run out many items since they prefer to serve only fresh products to their customers. It is mostly visited by foreigners.
They serve one of the best Croissants you may have across India and I am not exaggerating at all, they really are. They have too many Vegan options as well. They are quite famous for their Breakfast bowls (Acai, Chia), Sourdough sandwiches, Apple Tart with puff pastry base and the best of all Cold chocolate. I ordered a lactose free option, since they did not have any lactose free milk, they served me this drink with Coconut milk. It was really different for me, since I never had any Chocolate drink with Coconut milk, but I really fell in love with it ! All the delicacies they serve are super fresh and made with local ingredients. The staff is very courteous and polite.
So next time when you visit Auroville, this place should definitely be there on...
