All in all good, but a few things could be improved:
I visited Conscious Café in Auroville after seeing so many positive reviews online, but my experience was honestly disappointing. I ordered just two items — the chocolate chip cookie and the pancakes. The menu mentioned that the pancakes were made with buttermilk, so I expected them to be soft and fluffy. Instead, they were probably the hardest and stalest pancakes I’ve ever had. It felt hard, chewy and I couldn't even cut it with my knife and fork. It didn’t even feel like a fresh batch. Even if someone messes up pancakes at home, they wouldn't turn out this bad. The cookie wasn’t any better — it was bland, barely sweet, and I couldn’t even find proper chocolate chips inside. It honestly felt like both items were made without any care.
The ambience didn’t help either. While the café looks nice from the outside with its high ceilings, the comfort level inside was poor. There were only two ACs placed way up on the tall ceiling, which didn’t cool the space properly. A few fans were there, but they didn’t do much — it felt stuffy and warm throughout.
We spent around ₹462 for just those two items, and it honestly felt like money completely wasted. To make it worse, this was the first stop on our Pondicherry trip — and it ended up being the worst part of the whole experience. Not the kind of start we were hoping for.
I don’t know how the café has so many great ratings — maybe others had a better experience, but mine was not even close to enjoyable. I wouldn’t recommend it, at least not for the...
Read moreIncredible ambience, unhurried pace laid back vibe. Great food. Please dont expect a fast food service culture..go to a take away then...the food is made with love n attention n needs ur patience n indulgence. All dishes I had, contained ingredients mentioned in the menu. I asked Kirtana Varghese the owner who had a work station next to my table for extra feta in my watermelon n feta salad n offered to pay but dismissed my offer n not only did extra feta arrive but a tiny unsolicited but entirely welcome portion of their date n balsamic vinegar reduced dressing arrived with it. The Khao suey was not only aesthetically presented it tasted perfect....both these portions were hefty to say the least. The humongous large segment of lush blueberry cheese cake washed down with a lavender n chamomile tea drizzled with honey transported me to areas of serene delight. Jalan an utterly calming server despite his fiery name n Zulfi and Deepankar lavished the highest standards of hostmanship. Only wish- if any, is -if they could smile more forthcomingly!! With a home brewed kombucha n rose flavored aperitif n the rest of the sumptuously portioned meals all came to a princely rs 1533. Will reccomend it to other easy n langourous diners who are not in a hustling hurry to gobble n gallop. Take a bow team...
