Restaurant Review: Dinner at Dosart
Date of Visit: May 2024
Overview: Dosart is renowned for its authentic South Indian cuisine, offering a variety of dishes that appeal to both traditional tastes and modern palates. However, my recent dining experience was marred by service issues, despite the food living up to its reputation.
Ambiance: The ambiance at Dosart is warm and inviting, with decor that reflects the rich cultural heritage of South India. The restaurant was well-maintained, with clean tables and a comfortable seating arrangement. The lighting was just right, creating a cozy atmosphere perfect for a family dinner or a casual meal with friends.
Service: Unfortunately, the service at Dosart was a significant letdown. From the moment we were seated, the waiter seemed more interested in pushing his favorite dishes rather than allowing us to make our own choices. His persistence was uncomfortable, as he ordered items for us without our consent, which felt intrusive and unprofessional.
The service issues didn't stop there. We were informed that the thattu idly would take 30 minutes to prepare. However, shortly after, another customer who arrived after us received the same dish in just 5 minutes. This discrepancy was frustrating and indicated a lack of consistency and fairness in how orders were managed. Additionally, the waiter was seen pressuring other customers who only wanted coffee to order more substantial items like idiyappam and dosa, which further highlighted his overbearing attitude.
Food: Despite the service issues, the food at Dosart did not disappoint. Each dish was flavorful and well-prepared, reflecting the high culinary standards the restaurant is known for.
Thattu Idly: The thattu idly was soft and perfectly steamed, served with a variety of chutneys and sambar that were rich and aromatic. Idiyappam: The idiyappam was delicate and complemented well by the accompanying kurma. Dosa: The dosa was crispy and but burnt - taste wise ok only.
The food quality was undeniably good, and it’s clear that the kitchen staff takes pride in their craft.
Conclusion: While Dosart delivers excellent food that stays true to South Indian culinary traditions, the overall dining experience was significantly impacted by the poor service. The waiter's rudeness and pushy behavior overshadowed the positive aspects of the meal. For future visits, I hope the management addresses these service issues to ensure a more enjoyable dining experience for all customers.

Kaju Mushroom dosa was also undercooked and was also not worth the price. ambience was good but not suitable for a gang of 6. less...
