Writing this review after multiple visits to their different branches. Annanagar, Velachery, Tambaram Sanatorium, OMR.
Visited Tambaram Sanatorium more than 7 times now.
Being an hardcore non-veg, I can easily say Veg means in this place is hands down one of the best you can get in this price range. I can say this meals can even easily defeat any Veg Restaurants at this price.
Their menu for Veg Meals are Rice, One Poriyal, One Kootu, One Varuval, Podi, Ghee, Sambar, Vatha kolumbu, Rasam and Curd. Each and every item served in this meals is lip smacking. We usually start with their Kozhi Rasam everytime, best thing to start with.
We had Veg Meals more than 6 times now and the taste and quality is very consistent.
Coming to Non-Veg below are the items we tried during our multiple visits there.
Mann Satti Meen Kolambu : One small piece of fish and kolambu, pretty good with very light sour taste which is required for this kolambu. Good thing is they have small and large portion. So we can opt based on our appetite.
Chicken 65: Easily one of the best we had in recent times. Not covered with over powered masala. Very subtle and tastly. Kids will love this and can eat without any difficulties. Our kid is 6 years and he enjoys this.
Chicken Biryani: Very medium spiced biriyani. Served with Kolambu and Raitha. Goes well along with kolambu they give.
Vanjaram Fish Fry: Surely not the best of the lot. Ordered one time and they skipped during our next visits. Served almost in room temperature only, not hot and tasted okayish.
Parotta: Very fluffy ones and perfectly goes well with the salna they give. Amazing taste. One of my favourites here.
Kari Dosa: This was a different one than what we actually expected. This was more like a keema dosa. May be a different version here. Not suited our taste buds. Since we usually have different version of it.
Now coming to service, it's improved a lot since during our initial visits they really struggled. Now it looks good. May be we are usually going now only on weekdays.
My suggestion is to go on weekdays around 12 itself. Weekend, better to avoid considering very huge crowd and waiting time :)
Surely recommend trying Veg Meals, Parotta Salna, Chicken Biryani and 65.
I tried their Veg Meals in all their branches, taste and quality is same and consistent. So you can try any of their branches.
Hope they keep their quality, taste considering the expansion of their branches in Chennai and based on previous experience with other good resturants going down on quality and taste when going...

Mixed Experience at Erode Amman Mess (ஈரோடு அம்மன் மெஸ்)
Visited the Sanitorium branch of Erode Amman Mess (ஈரோடு அம்மன் மெஸ்) Restaurant, and while the food had its moments, the overall experience left much to be desired.
🍽️ Food Review
Mutton Biryani (₹305) – 3/5: Rice was flavorful, but the mutton pieces were tough and chewy. Pichu Pota Naatu Kozhi – 2/5: Undercooked and lacked the rustic flavor expected from a native chicken dish. Bun Parotta with Gravy – 4/5: Soft and tasty, one of the better items. Veg Meals (₹165) – 4/5: Well-balanced and satisfying, though slightly overpriced. Other Dishes: Chicken kulambu was excellent, but mutton kulambu and Japan chicken were average. Fried rice was above average, but some gravies lacked freshness and flavor.
👎 Service & Management
Service was slow and disorganized, especially during peak hours. Wait times were excessive – up to 2 hours in some cases. Staff seemed overwhelmed, with one person handling multiple tables, leading to confusion and missed orders. Hygiene concerns: Reports of hair in food and food poisoning incidents are alarming. Customer handling was poor – multiple complaints of rude behavior, lack of follow-up, and preferential treatment.
🚗 Ambience & Accessibility
The restaurant is spacious, but parking is a major issue. Valet parking is risky due to the congested area. Crowd management is lacking, and the front desk service is often unwelcoming. Denial of entry unless the full group is present and refusal to hold seats reflects poor customer service.
💡 Final Thoughts While the food has potential, especially with dishes like bun parotta and chicken kulambu, the service, hygiene, and crowd management need serious improvement. The pricing does not match the quality or quantity, and the overall experience feels frustrating, especially when compared to the hype.
Verdict: Not worth the wait or the price at the Tambaram branch. Hope the management takes feedback seriously and improves the...

I purchased a parcel of Chicken Kattu Varuval from the Tambaram branch of Erode Amman Mess. I was informed that the dish would be spicy, but it was quite the opposite. There was no masala, no flavor—it tasted like plain steamed chicken with onions.
When I raised my concerns, a staff member named Mano (or Manoj) responded with a very poor attitude. His replies were rude and unprofessional:
He said that customers need to specifically ask if they want their food spicy. (Seriously, if we order Guntur chicken, do we have to explicitly ask for it to be extra spicy?)
When I mentioned the lack of taste, he rudely asked, "What do you want me to do about it? I need to see the chicken to confirm." (How am I supposed to bring back a parcel until my next visit?) Here’s the rephrased version:
There is no proper parking space, and you might have to wait an hour just to get a table.
The atmosphere is chaotic, with everyone rushing around in a cramped dining area.
This place is not suitable for group or family dining. Once you finally get a table, it’s very uncomfortable.
Manoj provides terrible service, responding lethargically to customer inquiries. He doesn’t listen to concerns and acts as if he’s too busy to address them. This branch, in particular, seems to be taking advantage of the brand’s name, and in my opinion, Manoj is not fit to...
