We went Puducherry from Chennai to celebrate our anniversary.. it was a one day trip that we planned, so we were looking for a stop for our lunch. Suddenly the Sign board caught our eyes. We went in Rani and Rani Residency. They told restaurant is in terrace.
We were frightened little about the cost of food(Actually we were looking for just a sea food meals restaurant). But the moment we enter inside, we felt like came in to our relative house and they are preparing feast for us.. We ordered 2 CHICKEN CLEAR SOUP, CRAB LOLLIPOP, FISH FINGERS, 2 Chapathi (for my 2 yr old son, they added sugar for that), FRIED PRAWN RICE and Mixed NOODLES. (If we went for dinner it would be nice, there are OPEN TERRACE dining too)
Our Personal favorite is Crab lollipop it was top notch (i suggest to try, you will love it). My son ate a lollipop himself. Fish fingers Were little oily but tasted good. Both Noodles and fried rice were delicious and the quantity more for 2 of us.
One thing I appreciate is : They have all the dishes that is available in menu card.
The total bill we paid was 870 rupees only.(We just enquired for rooms too, for our next visit,.They said like for 3 ppl room starts from 1.5k to 6 bedroom around 6k)
Pros: Good Taste Cleanliness Hospitality of chef and residency staves Nearby Auroville Matrimandir Wheelchair accessible
Cons: it's Not a con, just a suggestion : Tissue paper were not provided in table and Mineral water bottle were like compulsory(they didn't ask for providing...
Read moreWe had ordered crab lollipop, tawa fish, fish finger, nethili fry, boiled egg for the starters, and other main dishes like fish biriyani, chicken fried rice, curd rice, etc. To begin with all the starters were either frozen or extremely dry. Fish finger and crab lollipop was still cold in the middle when we were consuming, from that we understood that it’s frozen. Moreover the time they took to serve us was horrible.. the first starter reached us only after one hour, and meanwhile they misplaced someone else’s order in our table and were forcing us to accept that and pay for it. We’ve spent close to 2500 for nothing. The taste wasn’t that good at all.. and the lady who was serving us had an arrogant and mocking behaviour.. we went there extremely hungry and waited for more than a hour to get our order which made our experience bitter.. dear owner, please take a note if my complaints and u hope this will be taken care in future. We went there based on the reviews given and our experience here was completely opposite (was...
Read moreIt is a roof top restaurant attached to a residency. The ambience is normal but neat. The prices are reasonable.
We went as a group of 6 adults and 2 kids. For the main course, we ordered chicken biryani, white rice with fish curry and prawn curry and one curd rice. In side dishes, we ordered nethili (anchovies) fry/65, Squid 65 and squid pepper fry. We also ordered Mosambi (Sweet lime) juice.
Squid 65 was good but squid pepper fry was average (tasted more bland). Nethili (anchovies) fry really tasted fresh and crispy. Briyani was ok and the prawn curry was good. Their fish curry was excellent and stood out among all the dishes for us. It had the right consistency and taste with the right level of masala flavours.
We had ordered one curd rice for the kids and so asked for it without tempering. They served it with care. The curd was fresh and the rice was well mashed. Kudos to their homely service. If you are looking for a cost effective restaurant with seafood varieties, you can definitely...
