One of my favorites at Nowana was the bibimbap, a colorful and wholesome bowl of rice, vegetables, and topped with a fried egg and served with a spicy sauce on the side. It was a burst of flavors and textures that left me craving for more. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were reasonable, making it a great value for money.
In conclusion, Nowana is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience authentic Korean cuisine in Auroville. The minimal decor, delicious flavors, and friendly service make it a perfect spot for a unique and memorable dining experience. The venue has a pleasant atmosphere with lots of open and garden seating. The menu has a decent selection of vegetarian and vegan options. However, the flavors are milder than traditional Korean cuisine. If you're expecting spicy dishes, you will be disappointed. This restaurant caters well to those who prefer non-spicy options.
Unfortunately, my recent experience with the service left much to be desired. On this occasion, the kitchen mistakenly served a chicken dish while calling it the vegetarian brinjal dish we had ordered for my strictly vegetarian friends. They unknowingly consumed it until the chef approached us, pointing out the mix-up and implying that we would be charged extra for the chicken. This came as a shock to us.
Despite our protestations that we had not knowingly received chicken, the chef insisted otherwise, seemingly oblivious to the kitchen's error. Her response was disappointing, lacking a proper apology and seeming to dismiss the gravity of the situation. This was especially concerning given the cultural sensitivities around dietary choices.
I was further surprised that her primary concern appeared to be the additional charge for the chicken, rather than taking responsibility for the error and apologizing. It was a disappointing experience, considering her role as the restaurant's manager. While we understand that new staff members may make mistakes, her handling of the situation could have been much more professional.
Overall, I felt that she could have handled their error in...
Read moreThis used to be one of my top places to eat, but the service has dropped dramatically. I'm referring to the new Nowana that is n Auromodel. It was never top on my list because I found the dishes overpriced and unsatisfying in quantity. But the quality was decent and the staff used to be extremely humble and kind. The service certainly won me over! But now with the drastic drop in service, it's down from a '4' to a '2' for me.
In response to the response: A restaurant's policies I have no issues with. it is only the care and kindness of the service I am referring to. They never denied my request actually. In fact, they never even responded to it. However, I did hear the very dismissive tone and words response, spoken in Tamil, from a staff member to the waiter when he conveyed my request to him. I used to feel such warmth from the staff, but now it feels like they don't care if I'm there or not. The grounds of the restaurant are so beautiful and calm. I hope you manage to bring up the customer service again. It would be nice to enjoy a nice Korean meal there from time to...
