A Taste of Tradition – Shri Balajee Bhavan
If you're on the hunt for authentic South Indian food, Shri Balajee Bhavan is a well-known spot that promises a variety of flavors, textures, and comforting dishes. From crispy dosas to rich curries, this place caters to both local and visiting food lovers.
Food & Taste – Hits & Misses ✅ Must-try dishes:
Sambar Vada – Crisp vadas soaked in flavorful sambar make for a comforting start.
Rava Masala Dosa & Podi Butter Masala Dosa – Perfect crispness and balanced spice.
Parotta Kurma – A tasty, satisfying South Indian delicacy.
Mini Tiffin – A great way to sample multiple items in one plate.
Chole Bhature – Surprisingly delicious for a South Indian restaurant!
🚫 Dishes that fell short:
Overpriced soups – The clear veg and sweet corn soup aren’t worth the cost.
Rava Onion Dosa – Too thick, more like an uthappam than a crispy dosa.
Parcel chutney issue – Customers have reported chutneys spoiling if taken home late at night.
Ambience & Service Quick service, especially during breakfast.
Staff is polite, though service may slow down during peak hours.
Pricing is slightly higher compared to other South Indian franchises.
Can get overcrowded, so weekdays are better for a relaxed meal.
Concerns & Feedback ⚠ Some customers have reported inconsistencies, including disappointing idly availability in à la carte but included in the mini tiffin. ⚠ Certain dishes like pongal and vada have been served cold, which affects overall experience. ⚠ Parcel food handling could improve, ensuring freshness even late at night.
Final Verdict Shri Balajee Bhavan remains a solid choice for South Indian breakfast and tiffin, but it has its flaws in service and pricing. If you love crispy dosas, well-prepared chutneys, and hearty meals, it’s worth a visit—but beware of inconsistencies in food quality and service.
