1 Star – A Week Later, I’m Still Suffering
This review comes a full week after my visit to Shakambari Veg Restaurant, and unfortunately, the after-effects are far worse than the meal itself—which, at the time, already felt like culinary punishment.
Let me be clear: this place serves an unrelenting spice assault disguised as Andhra-style vegetarian food. But this isn’t the bold, balanced heat Andhra cuisine is loved for—this was a malicious overload of adulterated, low-quality chili powder that has caused actual chemical burns in my mouth. Yes, you read that right. One week of pain, ulcers, and inflammation—all thanks to one “meal”.
Every dish in the thali was a spice-bomb catastrophe, with no variation, no relief, and no sense. Even the curd rice—meant to be cooling—was rendered inedible thanks to a mountain of fiery pickle and zero balance. Sambar, rasam, poriyal, dal—everything was doused in a reckless amount of red chili powder, likely cheap, synthetic, and dangerously harsh on the digestive system.
Not once did the staff inquire about spice preference or offer help, despite food being left untouched. It's almost as if they take pride in serving food that's physically harmful.
This is not just a bad meal. This is culinary negligence bordering on health hazard. If you value your palate, your health, and any semblance of traditional Andhra flavor, stay far away...
Read morethis is my worst ever experience for a parcel order ever. ref: order number 274 on 25/07/2023 for ₹269.
4 simple items ordered at 10:13 am. I went home without my order and giving my 269 rupees to the hotel charity after waiting for more than 40 minutes. staff Kitne besharam they ki when I was leaving without taking my order and when they refused to give me a refund, they did not even stop me...I mean I am falling short of words to explain the situation.
I would say to avoid this place completely during rush time...even on zomato and swiggy as they are slow and incompetent. the staff do not acknowledge you and they are slow, but the biggest problem is their chef (master on this case) who is slower than a snail as one plain dosa would take 10 mins to come out.
not sure if the management will read this review, so not expecting a refund( I should have stayed and fought for it I know, but was just too frustrated at that point) but hopefully this review...
Read moreWe traveled 7 km to have lunch, but the experience was disappointing. Out of the five items we ordered, three were below our expectations. The chutneys, which are typically a highlight in such meals, looked stale and tasted off. Even the additional chutneys provided later had the same issue; neither their appearance nor their taste was appealing.
On a positive note, the coffee was excellent – it was hot and had a rich flavor. The staff's behavior was commendable; they were courteous and attentive, and the service was notably quick, which was appreciated.
However, the washrooms were in poor condition and definitely need an upgrade to improve overall customer satisfaction. The restaurant does have a considerable amount of space, with seating available on both the ground floor and the first floor, which is a plus for accommodating larger groups.
Overall, while there were some positives, the food quality and facilities need significant...
