Kokan Swad - Thane — Restaurant in Thane

We visited this place yesterday, Sunday, 12/06/2022 around 10:30 PM. We asked for Surmai and Bombil thali which was not available (might be we reached very late) and waiter suggested us Pomfret thali and Prawns thali, which we had ordered.

The Pomfret thali they served was awful in taste. The fish was not fresh at all. On top of it, waiters were trying to convince that the fish is fresh and it was purchased in the morning. It was sounding very funny because we are eating this fish since childhood and we know the actual taste of fresh fish. Being Malwani person I can say that the authentic Malwani taste was missing in every item. Fried fish was coated like bhajiya, gravy has sweet taste and overall it had neither Punjabi nor Malwani taste.

Generally we see Malwani people around when we visit any good Malwani restaurant but here we didn't see Malwani crowd at all. You can guess why it was like that. Actually most of the people in Mumbai do not know the authentic taste of Malwani food and that might be the reason this restaurant has 4 stars.

Malwani food is our culture and personally I feel this type of experience as disrespect to our culture. I will never visit this place again for sure but I would like to recommend few other restaurants if you want to enjoy authentic Malwani food e.g. Gomantak(Dadar), Vijaydurg(Thane), Ratnagiri(Goregaon), Gajali(Vile Parle). These places always has long waiting period but trust me the wait is worth for the type of food you will be getting here.

Very rude staff behaviour.The food was okay....but I think as it was peak hour they mixed water in solkadi and it tasted bad....the fish served was smaller than the regular size ....as we have eaten earlier also.....But the service was bad....the old man who takes reservations for table ...Mr Kishor( he told this was his name not sure he can lie also) was very rude .... We waited for puran poli after lunch ....the waiter took our order and gave it to kitchen(we were seated near kitchen) we waited 10 mins....the that old man came talked to the waiter in Marathi n told to cancel our order of puranpoli as there are customers Waiting.....then he came n told us that puranpoli was bad so we couldn't give you....when we told him we know what he told the waiter ...he talked badly n told do whatever you want ...put bad reviews I don't care...and behaved badly n in loud voice.....he could have simply said that we don't accept this order in peak hours ....but know he behaved arrogantly.....This kind of behaviour is not acceptable....from such restaurants....we didn't eat for free we paid so why will we accept this attitude.Plz note this man can drive away yours regular customer......while we were waiting noticed some arguments he had with other customers as well.... Kindly take action against him...as this will hamper your...
