There are very few restaurants that surprise me and this was definitely one of them. Tandoor, Tawa and Kadahi is a simple restaurant near Suraj Waterpark in Godbunder road. Its located right on the highway so it very not very difficult to reach or miss. It serves good north Indian food. Not Punjabi but north Indian food
Ambience 4.5/5 The restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere. This place can easily accommodate a large crowd or just a table for 2. The table are very intelligently designed to have an elevated platform. This acts a mini table to keep all the stuff life spoons, salt pepper, napkins etc. This ensures that your table is free to just keep your food. loved the concept. The seating is gain super comfy, keeping in mind a very heavy person as well. The theme of the place is designed around the concept of wood and fire, so the dim lights works here. One section of the restaurant boast of beautiful rustic unfinished well that add to the personality of the place, great.
Food - 5/5 The food of the restaurant should be the main talking point and i loved every bit of it. So heres what I had. Paya Shorba - Ditch those Manchurian soups to try this homemade soup. It was mild, delicious, and extremely soothing. #Tamato Shorba - Mild tamato soup that sooths the soul. #Chutneys - I know this is not a dish , but this does deserve a mention. The Dahi chutney had been tempered with mustard paste and was just spot on. Loved it. #Seek Kebab - The seek kebab were delicious. Paired with this chutney, It was great. I only felt that this was too dry and overcooked. #Tandoori Murg (Leg Piece) - Awesome. No colour added. #Tandoori Prawns - Great grilled prawns in the tandoor. I am partial to pranwns so just loved it. #Tandoori Pomfret - A whole Pomfret, Tandoor Grilled. The fish was super fresh and well marinated. The spices mix seeped well through the fish. I loved it as well. Recommended. #Masala Papad - Its a very unique was or serving your Masala pappad. The pappad is rolled and stuffed with Bhelpuri. Very creative. #Gawauti/ Tunde Kebab - This kebab should melt in your mouth, thats its true test. This did. The roti was flaky and can be eaten just life that. #Biryani - This biryani was a little different that the usual ones you have. Its not dry and has a good amount of curry.Taste wise it was delicious. Muton Khada Masala - Loved this on the entre menu. The meat is fork tender and delcious with the semi dry curry. The curry is actually a kheema masala with big pieces of mutton. Two dishes in one Superb!! #Butter Nan - Buttery and fresh. Paired well with the mutton. Gulab Jamun - Noting much to say.. soft, warm and perfect ending to the meal.
Drinks 3/5 They don't serve alcohol. I tried thie fresh lime soda and it was really good. The lemon and soda helf the food go down well. Dint find much on the menu otherwise. I believe they are coming up with more beverages in this section.
Service - 5/5 The services was extremely prompt. Everyone in the restaurant was cordial and ensure that they dont linger around you giving you your space.
Overall 4.5/5 Over all I loved the placed. Go here for its typical north Indian fare. Avoid ordering Chinese as this restaurant serves delectable Tawa, Tandoori and Kadahi food. Try it for...
A hidden gem in the Godhbunder road of Thane, near suraj water park. I did saw this twice while passing Godhbunder road and wanted to visit the place because the name and the logo of the restaurant was very catchy. Finally one fine Sunday afternoon, I arrived at the restaurant and I was totally amazed to see how the place was set up. When you enter, you can see live tandoor grills and Chef working on it. I always love kitchen with transparent kitchen, that shows the hygiene level that is maintained in the restaurant. Then the dining area has amazing light set up and wall has nice vintage feel to it with some beautiful old photos hanged. The place is nicely set up, full marks to that.
Coming towards food, let me tell you what I tried.
Soup:
Paya Shorba - Paya cooked for longer duration, all you get is a clear flavourful paya soup. I was expecting paya peace, which was not their but, still the flavours did the justice.
Appetizers :
Mains :
Murg Dakshini (Highly Recommended) - You can feel the rich south indian flavours as soon as it hits your palate. Amazing gravy and delightful.
Mutton Rogan Josh: Perfectly cooked mutton with perfect Gravy as a it should be.
I would definitely recommend, if you are ordering any Gravy in the main then please try it with ULTE TAWA KA PARATHA. It's superb and rarely found in any restaurant. It a Hyderabadi concept of making paratha that is soft and delicious. Lovely and must try it.
Dessert : Chocolate bomb with hot chocolate syrup (Highly Recommended) - I was willing to try few more desserts but, this dessert was so, awesome that I did not want to try any other dessert and change the taste of the palate. The chocolate was rich and highly indulging one. Loved it the core.
Overall enjoyed the experience and hospitality. Would definitely recommend you to try it. It will not...
Read moreAs you enter, you are welcomed by a beautiful arrangement, a delightful marriage of the retro sorta chocolate brown walls with antique paintings hung all over them and the wooden-ish seating. I absolutely loved the brown theme with beautiful lights hung above each table. The owner, Mr. Alok Kumar has put his heart and soul in designing the ambiance of this restaurant.
This place is a perfect family fine-dine. The atmosphere is extremely lively. Full marks as far as the feel is concerned! The music is also on point.
I absolutely loved the fact that the menu was precise with no unnecessary , fancy names of dishes on it. The menu has definitely been curated in a really smart and to-the-point manner.
The staff is polite and the service is extremely prompt.
What we had -
~Masala papad roll : It's their speciality. Bhel was added as a filling inside the papad roll and it really was an amazing dish to start with. Perfectly crisp papad and the spicy bhel was a perfect combination.
~Tamatar Dhaniya Shorba : The best thing about this soup was that it was not at all filling and leaft room in tummy for more food to go in :p loved the perfect blend of tomato and spices in the soup.
~Aloo nazakat : This was a perfect appetizer. Absolutely loved it's flavor. It's definitely a must try.
~Paneer lehsuni tikka : Another amazing started. The paneer was so fresh and tender.
~Dahi kebab : I have no clue how they even made it because these kebabs were made purely of yogurt.
~Paneer kasuri methi : Fresh, juicy bits of paneer in red gravy with perfect amount of spices. Loved it !
~Soya chaap : Again another great dish. Spice lovers would go gaga over this dish.
~Mirchi onion paratha : Really spicy. No complaints !
~Cheese garlic naan : Could actually taste the bits of garlic in naan and addition of cheese was a plus.
~Subz dum biryani : It was a vegetable biryani cooked to perfection.
~Chocolate ball : Chocolate ball with brownie n icecream in it is pretty cliche but this one had walnut brownie and mousse which was really surprising (in a good way). The texture of mousse was so smooth that it would melt in the mouth with every bite. Its their signature dish. Absolute must have !!!
The portion size is insanely good for the quality and quantity both. To cater to young crowd they have also added Chinese options in their menu.
