The word Momo is said to be originated in ancient Tibet but the Nepali Momo has established a unique identity of its own. Like any other type of dumpling, it is a meat or vegetable filling wrapped in a dough. It is bite-sized and usually served with dipping sauce. Chicken, Veg, and Buff Momos are the most common kinds of Momo in the country but other kinds are available too. Due to its massive consumption, Momo has evolved to become a fast food in Nepal. If a Momo shop gets going, it is very likely to be making and selling Momos from lunch to dinner. The average cost of a Momo in Nepal is around 100 rupees (~US$1) but the cost can differ according to the choice of filling, and the scale of restaurant you choose to consume it at.Momo is more than a food, it reflects tradition, lifestyle and culture of the specific locality where it is available. There are many families run Momo restaurants that have been around for years serving the same dish with their own family recipe day after day. People in Nepal consume Momo as different meals at different times of the day. Momo works for lunch, snack, and dinner. Momo is usually a steamed dumpling but over time various types of Momos have developed in Nepal. Fried Momo is another famous type of Momo where the dumpling is deep fried to provide a crispy texture to it. Shuffle Momos is a must try place if you are in Gangtok. Great hygienic place with amazing views of the Gangtok city with great location, right at the beautiful MG road.

I was greeted with a smile and seated immediately though this place might get busy in evenings but worth the wait. I happened to sneak it at odd hours of weekday late afternoon. They have great seating area and is family friendly. Kids will love the food too. The sauce and grated radish carrot mixture was good too. I had to ask if they serve any other types of sauces with it and I was told they have chili 🌶️ oil but it’s for additional cost. Chili oil with crushed peanuts is great addition and worth the extra cost.

They have other menu items too but I did not try anything else I had very full and happy after the non veg combo basket of momos. The dish I ordered came with 12 total pieces with 2 of each kind, chicken 🍗 , pork 🐖, fish 🐠, beef, buff and chicken cheese.

Went back another day and tried the vegetable combo that came with 6 veg momos, 2 cutlet and veg chow mein.

Veg momos were same type and they did not give different varieties I missed the fine print 🤣 . They were made of cauliflower not the most yummy momos but were not bad. Cutlets were yummy and chow mein was tasty too. So after 2 visits I say this place is must try but ask for recommendations or as the ingredients if you really want to pick the right...

While the food stole the show, it’s worth noting that the service was a bit slow; we had to call a couple of times before our order was placed. The place tends to get busy during dinner hours, as it’s a popular spot among food enthusiasts. Despite the minor delays, the overall experience—rich in flavor and ambience—more than made up for it.
