Back then: There was a time when we would directly go to Karthik mess and not to fish market if we feel like eating fish. Their fish kuzhambu will be top notch even non fish eaters will love it!

About today: As usual I was buying fish kuzhambu there when I saw few people complaining about the biryani they bought yesterday, a mutton biryani with no piece but only bones in it. I consoled myself that this won’t happen with fish kuzhambu and yes there was large fish head in my kuzhambu BUT THE TASTE OF FISH KUZHAMBU WAS HORRIBLE I’m not a proper fish eater hence I thought I couldn’t guess BUT all my family members (who are professional Viral fish eaters) said the same, they suspected the fish is NOT CLEANED properly and hence the bad taste

We stumbled upon Karthik Mess during our drive back from Kodaikanal to Chennai while looking for a lunch spot amidst all the big-branded restaurants. It was past 2:30 pm, and we weren’t sure if we would find a place still serving meals. But when we called Karthik Mess, they were incredibly polite and assured us that lunch was still available. Superb homely food with moderate price.

The fish fry is the trade mark dish here, with lesser masala but with great flavours.

I've to give a note on the mutton nalli chops which is so good. The mutton like just falling from the bone. Well cooked and superb in taste. The viral meen kulambu was also gret. To complete a nice and tasty rasam and a homely buttermilk were served. The only thing I mention is thet are cooking the rice with some salt, for some people like me it's not good

Overall it's value for money and a worth a visit. A must...
