I’ve been a loyal customer of Shahi Darbar for 2 years and have always enjoyed their food. It has been my go-to place for non-vegetarian dishes. However, my recent visit left me deeply disappointed.
To start, the food’s taste wasn’t up to the mark. The dishes that were once rich in flavor and highly satisfying now felt dull and lacked the quality I had previously admired. On top of that, the prices have increased significantly, by nearly 55%. We ordered 2 starters, 1 chicken tikka curry (full), and 3 naans, which cost us ₹1400. The same meal used to cost around ₹900 just a few months ago.
The quantity was another letdown. The chicken tikka curry (full), priced at ₹495, included only 7 small pieces of chicken. These pieces were gone after the first serving, leaving us with a bowl full of gravy – not worth the price at all. While the portion size is mentioned in the menu, it still feels inadequate for what they’re charging.
It seems Shahi Darbar has become overpriced, likely due to the lack of good non-vegetarian dining options in the city. As a loyal customer for 2 years, it’s disheartening to see the decline in both quality and value. Unless things improve, I might have to look elsewhere for a...
Read moreI am new to ujjain. looked the review of this resturent to choose between this and other. After reading few reviews i found to try it. Someone has mentioned in the review about parking space problem. I think its ok. There is little bit space outside resturent to park car. Moreover it is near service lane. Not big problem. Looking at the hotel it is neat and nicely decorated. Ambience would not be an issue. There is garden space outside also. coming to food. Though i cant comment on every item but what we ordered i have rated 2/5. Ordered burra chicken. Its ok ok. Now wow factor. Any chicken prepre will give taste of chicken. Could not fing special flavor to call it special meal , just a piece of chicken meat. Though presentation is good. next i ordered lollypop in schezwan sauce. its taste ok but the problem is it looks a bit salty. i think chef are not up to the mark , degrading reputation of hotel. May be its today problem only. i will try next time to look whether its inherent staff problem or it happened at once only. Lastly i order lemon drink. its pathetic...

Visited Shahidurbar recently and was thoroughly disappointed. The staff was extremely unfriendly and seemed least interested in offering even basic courtesy or assistance. The surroundings were in terrible condition—full of mud, stones, and stagnant rainwater, making it nearly impossible to walk without getting completely drenched or dirty.
To make things worse, there’s no proper parking facility, and you’re expected to wade through water to enter the restaurant—quite literally. The place seems to survive solely because of the lack of non-veg options in Ujjain, not because it offers anything exceptional.
I had tasted their food earlier and found it average at best—certainly not worth the discomfort and poor treatment. With such unhygienic surroundings and an arrogant attitude from the staff, I would strongly advise against visiting Shahidurbar. A restaurant is not just about food—it’s about hospitality, hygiene, and respect for customers, all of which are severely...
