During my visit to Kasar Devi with my brother-in-law, we decided to stop by Ila Café, a cozy little spot tucked away in the peaceful hills of Almora. The moment we walked in, we could feel a calm and welcoming vibe, the kind of place where you instantly want to sit back, relax, and enjoy the mountain air.
The café might be small in size, but it more than makes up for it with its warmth, charm, and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee that fills the air. I ordered a cup of coffee, and it turned out to be just perfect, rich, aromatic, and full of flavor, the kind that makes you want to order another round. Alongside, we tried two pizzas, both freshly prepared with a crispy crust and delicious toppings. Every bite felt refreshing, and you could tell the ingredients were of good quality.
What makes Ila Café stand out is its simple yet relaxed atmosphere. It’s not a fancy or overly done-up place, but it carries a raw mountain charm that fits perfectly with Kasar Devi’s peaceful surroundings. The seating area is cozy, ideal for chatting with friends, reading a book, or even getting some work done if you carry your laptop along. The staff members were polite, attentive, and genuinely kind, which made the whole experience even more pleasant.
Another highlight is the view. On a clear day, you can sit outside and enjoy a breathtaking view of the Himalayas. The sight of the snow-capped peaks while sipping coffee is something truly special, peaceful, grounding, and memorable.
Of course, being a small café, space is limited, so you might have to wait a bit if it’s crowded. But honestly, once you settle in, it’s worth the wait. The overall vibe, the food quality, and the simplicity of the place make it one of those hidden gems you’re glad you stumbled upon.
If you’re around Kasar Devi or Almora, Ila Café is definitely worth a visit. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a quiet coffee, grab a fresh pizza, or just soak in some mountain calm, this place...

Read moreILA has a modest facade, but I spotted a terrace with views through its front door, and decided to have a late breakfast if possible with valley and mountain views from its sunny terrace. I was in luck. The air was clear and the snow-capped peaks of the distant Himalayas could be seen on the horizon. It was a mesmerizing sight. ILA's strong point is coffee(something I like), and pizzas(something I don't fancy at all). I'm glad I chose to stay and ordered a margharita and an americano. The americano was nice, probably a mildly roasted arabica. The margarita came later. It looked beautiful, and when I'd a bite, it tasted like a dream. It's the best pizza I've ever had. And so far I hadn't even sprinkled oregano and chilly flakes. ILA's secret sauce is that everything's made inhouse, including the pizza base. It was a dream brunch with dream views of the mountains and valleys, and monkeys around saw my lunch as a dream too, making me retreat closer to the small indoor area. It was a memorable lunch with the margharita, monkeys and mountainscapes. I couldn't ask for more. I'm...
