I was taken to Monkey Fist by my Dehradun friends who placed their orders while we were driving there. I hadn't heard of it and I never order without reading a menu but I just ordered what one of my friends was ordering which was the classic, The "Chicken BG"
We drove up to this cute little cafe on Canal Road where I met some friends with whom we were standing outside while our burgers were getting made inside. They have seating for about 8-10 people, it's more of a pick up place I figured (though they do have a washroom). The inside has a very rustic feel to it with some cool wall art which was perfectly lit, highly appreciated that. I was told that the owner Aneesh is a retired sailor who wanted to serve the people of Dehradun really good food and I think he's on the right track.
Our order took about 20 minutes to make which came with a side of fries. I was eating a burger after really long, so I tied up my hair, took a few deep breaths and went for it. As I took that first bite I remembering the burger bun being really soft. It was warm and fluffy, just the way a bun should be and it had a good amount of sesame seeds on top. The burger was dry so I had it with the chipotle and mustard sauce. The have a good variety of sauces to choose from but I personally believe that a really good burger shouldn't require extra sauces and should have enough moisture inside. I would have liked some lettuce in my burger, not because I'm a salad bug but because iceberg lettuce adds a good amount of water and an extra crunch. However I loved the spiciness of the jalapeños and the chicken patty was decent. If you like your food to be extra cheesy then I would recommend the "Shanghai Twist" which is actually really good.
Overall my experience was good, the ambience was cosy and warm, staff was friendly and is good value for money. Dehradun; I think you got yourself a really cool hangout spot, I might come back...

First of all, I would like to inform you that i have been a customer to your outlet from 2019, as it was to my favourite. I have been visiting there quite often with friends and family. From the past few visits i have been experiencing an unpleasant experience growing each time. It started with a packaging issue then went to the dine in area not being clean properly to today where I visited the premises and ordered a mutton mania with extra bacon with a lemon ice tea and a fresh lime soda. Mutton mania. It was reduced in portion size drastically with barely worthy ingredients Lemon iced tea. Was served at room temperature with no taste fresh lime soda. No fizz was also served at room temperature and was lacking sufficient lime and sugar Upon which i got up to the attendant. Who wasn’t there to attend me. Upon numerous calls she came to her desk and refused to provide any assistance in any of the problems. Which isn’t acceptable considering i had to constantly remind her to provide me with straws, to close the doors and switch on the A/C. And to provide me with change to my payment.
Burger used to be for 200 for a better quality and portion size sadly it has been for 500+100(if added bacon) which isn’t worth anything.
Sorry Monkey fist, you lost us...
Read moreBurgers these days tend to butcher flavours in an attempt to look big and 'instagram'-worthy. In this age and date Monkey fist goes back to basics and gets the most fundamental thing right - flavour. Having visited this place after various recommendations, my expectations were really high and boy-oh-boy were they surpassed! The mutton mania burger I had was one of the best burger I've ever had. A soft bun, a falvourful patty and just the right amount of fillings. What might appear as a simple, rather small burger is a delightful and filling meal which will definitely leave you happy. These are burgers done right, people. Aneesh's passion shows in the way he has done the place, and makes his food. When in doon, make it a point to visit Monkey Fist. As he says, you'll walk in hungry and...
