Opal Lounge — Restaurant in Uttarakhand

We stumbled upon this amazing bar/restaurant while travelling to Mussoorie, Uttarakhand through Dehradun city during our vacation in India.

Situated in the heart of Dehradun city (Rajpur road), this gastrobar boasts of a lively and energetic atmosphere, DJ/dance floor, party themed ambience and an elaborate bar with the bartenders showing off their impeccable bartending skills (juggling with bottles and playing with fire).

We went for dinner on a friday night and ordered some snacks and cocktails. It was very busy and they had ample security measures in place, including bouncers who were keeping a watch. On one side of the restaurant there were high tables and chairs placed in close proximity to the bar and a DJ/dance floor at the back. Also, in this section, they had semi-circle sofa based seating arrangements for larger groups.

On the other side of the restaurant, they had the traditional seating arrangement in place with multiple tables comfortably spread out. We chose this section as it was a little quieter due to its proximity from the dj/dance floor. This sectioned also seemed more suitable for families with little kids.

We ordered a few non veg and veg dishes along with some cocktails. The food and drinks were palatable and delicious! Some of the items that we ordered were chicken tikka, paneer tikka, daal tadka, malai kofta and chicken rara. For drinks we ordered the cucumber mojito and pinacolada.

The icing on the cake was the friendliness of the staff and the owner. The owner is a thorough gentleman as he walked across the tables talking to patrons, ensuring that everyone was having a pleasant experience.

The lounge has a spacious and well-decorated interior. There are both indoor and outdoor seating areas. The bar offers a wide variety of cocktails, as well as beer and wine. The lounge also has a live music stage, where local bands perform on weekends.
