On a Saturday morning we couple of us went to this place to have breakfast.
A small outlet that could accommodate 20 odd people and serves Breakfast and dinner. (They have stopped serving lunch). Looks decent in terms of atmosphere and brings in that flavour of traditional type, with a thatched roof above.
We had Idli, Ghee Podi Dosa, Pongal and Poori.
Pongal - though slightly cold was very tastier. (If at all you visit this place, make sure you are around 8 AM or so to relish it very hot). Had it been hot, would have been too good.
Poori was prepared as we ordered (1 set poori has 3 pieces) and was served with Masal and was ok.
Idli was kind of hard and cold as well. (May be due to the fact that we went little late and items were getting over). Definitely not the best one what we had today.
We had a Ghee Podi dosa which was crispier - neither too great nor bad. Was ok ok types.
They serve(d) Pongal / Idli / Dosa with Coconut Chutney, Kara Chutney and Sambar. Coconut Chutney was tasting good and Kara chutney was ok. Sambar was disappointing. Not much taste. In fact, the Kara chutney was getting over and the serving staff was apologetic for that.
The items were cheap as well.
Definitely not the taste i would have loved to, especially for these kind of traditional mess / outlets.
If you around in this area and that too if its early in the morning, you can make...
ย ย ย Read moreReally liked dining at this modest restaurant. It is no wonder eveyone raves about the food here. Food was tasty yet had a homely touch to it.
What was indeed more likeable here (to me) was the hospitality. The owner of the hotel welcomed me with an endearing "vaango" when I stepped in. We don't get this treatment in many restaurants these days, unfortunately..
Food is priced very reasonably as well. And the owner's son (Vinoth) a young guy in his 20's is quite passionate about this restaurant and food business. He was very warm, friendly and personally involved in serving the customers too. Being a very small eatery, we get personalized attention here. Great..
Only grouse if I have to nitpick, is lack of proper parking space for cars.. and it is not your typical restaurant with posh interiors, AC et all. But the modest ambience, homely food and endearing hospitality will more than make up for these minor inconveniences. Will visit...
ย ย ย Read moreAfter n number of tries, I was finally able to visit this place. To my surprise the place was empty at a prime breakfast time, maybe it's due to the location of the place. As I was the only customer I was attended immediately and I ordered a Poori and Ghee Podi Dosa. They served the food pretty quickly, Poori was soft and went well with the Aloo. Ghee Podi Dosa had good amount of Podi in it. Sambar and Chutney felt like I'm eating in my home. Absolutely homely food, will definitely recommend for anyone who wants to have a simple home style food. Will definitely visit once again and hopefully the place will be open and I'll have some good lunch. They also have special varities on each day which you can refer to the board that they have placed inside. Tuesdays are holidays so plan...
