Update 8 months later. Taste still the same. Service is good. Like to sit here to eat. My recent visit to Joon Canggu presented a mixed bag of experiences. The restaurant's setting is undoubtedly its strongest suit. Nestled in a beautifully maintained garden complemented by a pool and playground, it offers a serene and visually pleasing environment. This tranquil backdrop is perfect for a relaxed dining experience. The staff at Joon Canggu deserves a special mention for their neat appearance and friendly demeanor. They were attentive and welcoming, adding a personal touch to the service. However, the culinary experience didn't quite hit the mark for me. The Nasi, a staple in Indonesian cuisine, was disappointing as it had an overpowering taste of cabbage, which overshadowed the other flavors. Additionally, the chicken served alongside was dry, detracting from the overall enjoyment of the meal. The Western offerings, namely the hotdog and chicken sandwich served with fries, were average. While there was nothing particularly wrong with these dishes, they didn't stand out in terms of flavor or presentation.

I’ve been living in the area for many years, and this place has truly become a part of my daily life. I come here for breakfast all the time — it’s my little ritual. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and somehow always manages to lift my mood, no matter the day. The food is consistently great, with thoughtful options and fresh ingredients. What I love most is how kind and flexible the kitchen is — if there’s something I don’t eat, they’re always happy to adjust the dish. It’s these little touches that make you feel at home. Weekends are my favorite — they host the sweetest kids’ events, and it just melts your heart. It’s such a joy to watch the little ones having fun while you sip your coffee by the beautiful pool. Honestly, I didn’t even want to write a review because I wanted to keep this place all to myself… but they really deserve the love. The team here is wonderful — warm, genuine, and always smiling. It’s rare to find a spot that feels both so special and so familiar at the same time. I’m just really grateful it exists. XX Lily (the one who always swaps meat for avocado)

We are Joon regulars!!!! We love it! And we introduce all our friends to it, and they love it too! This place is completely kid friendly. With a cool pool, playground, swim set and big fun grass area for kids to run around. It’s very nice to have a cafe/restaurant that has a pool but not a beach club feel - so the kids can really enjoy. There is seating looking out to the rice fields and the play area so parents can let the kids run around while supervising/sitting ☺️ - great play date meet up spot! The menu is reasonably priced and we haven’t had a meal we didn’t like. Love the beef salad! The snacks are great for kids too - our daughter loves the hot dog! We live in babakan and drive pass almost every night, happy to see it vibing! Good spot for digital nomads too. If you don’t mind children playing during the day… there are plenty of PowerPoints and a nice breeze that comes through when sitting inside ☺️ Indonesian owned! Thank you Made and wife! We are so pleased with your establishment!

I've been going here every day for breakfast since i moved to Bali so have quite a detailed review. The scenery is lovely, it's super pretty and nature vibes with a pool and garden area that caters to children. The food is very hit and miss if i'm honest, i tend to just have poached eggs, toast and hash browns, they don't cater well to non pork eaters the vegan bits i've had have been awful. Most of the breakfasts i've ordered other than this i haven't eaten and they don't seem to care if you like it just that you pay. Considering i've been going every single day, it really annoys me when they add extra charges onto the bill like butter and i'll ask to switch an item for example no avocado extra hash brown and they put the hash browns on the bill like i won't notice. Today i had scrambled eggs feeling adventurous and they were the worst tasting scrambled eggs i've ever had. They sell a variety of juices but not quite perfected the combinations, a good fresh orange or apple juice is much better than a strange mixed flavoured juice with lots of added syrup in.

Constructive criticism.

Stop using oil for scrambled eggs, only fried eggs should be cooked in oil. I should not be able to tell the difference between the chefs, if i order the same thing every single day it should be the same every day. Mosquitos are a huge problem, i go here fully clothed now otherwise you get eaten alive with or without spray on, this is the only restaurant i've experienced this problem in. You need to invest in plugs ins or tools so they avoid coming inside. You do not need to play loud music every day from 7am, i live very close and as a remote worker finishing late at night the noise is very disturbing so early and even whilst dining i...

Nice playground and pool for the kids but food is tragic. Nasi Goreng had no flavor or whatsoever. Asian food and especially fried rice is famous for combination of all 5 flavors that’s why it’s so addictive however in this place it had non of it: it had zero spice, no acidity at all, no sweetness, it didn’t even had any salt, I had to ask for it and they brought salt shaker with rice and no slot in it 😆 obviously it didn’t have umami flavor too which normally comes from fish sauce in sambal because no sauces was used in this dish. Just pure fat and large clam shells without clams in it. Just really really bad. I had tons of fried rice in Bali for 1$ and it was 1000 times better. Here I guess you just pay for the place itself. We tried breakfast as well and it was drowning in oil. Also it lacks tables and seating arrangements. Very few. Service wasn’t great either I had to aggressively wave to be noticed and get a menu at least as well as to order or ask for something. Staff just stay in the corner and when they finally come it takes forever for them to take the order as they try to log it in the tablet but struggling to do it efficiently. However our 2y.o. enjoyed playing in their garden and place is absolutely beautiful with trees and orchids...

The food & atmosphere were fine but the service was not. I sent a message on whatsapp a day in advance to book the poolside daybed, they took so long to reply & was unfriendly, they then confirmed my booking for 3pm the next day at the poolside day bed. So I came right on time (actually 2 minutes early) & there were people sitting at the table I requested. I asked the server for my booking, showed them the message but they weren't helpful didn't really care about my booking. So they sat us at the bean bag chairs instead. It was uncomfortable & hot. I then asked to please be seated at the day bed as soon as the people sitting there leave because I specifically booked that table for 3pm. They said yes. Not long after that the other customers left and I asked to be seated there but the servers said I can't sit there because someone else has booked the table. I was so infuriated because I was first to book that table but they didn't care. Turns out this person booked both day beds & it was an "important" man (the server said police) with his family. So I guess me being a regular person wasn't worthy enough for the poolside day bed. I never got an explanation on why I couldn't sit at the day bed, no apology, no nothing. It was very...
