Sakanaya Canggu — Restaurant in Bali

Food was amazing and was cheap for that portion and quality. I ordered local oysters, sashimi moriawase and sushi aburi. Local oysters were decent and served with ponzu sauce and lime. But they didn't give spoon for the sauce and small fork for the oysters so eating it became a bit awkward and messy. The highlight was sashimi moriawase. Very fresh, tasty and super cheap. Probably the cheapest sashimi moriawase I've had in all Canggu with the quality of much more premium restaurant. Fifteen slices for 75 thousand Rupiah. Amazing. Sushi aburi was also great. Tasty, big portion and cheap. Again, probably the cheapest in Canggu for that kind of portion and quality. The atmosphere was also very nice. They had direct view to paddy field by the tatami seating. Beautiful scenery. The only downside for me is their music. I love instrumental music but their choice of upbeat saxophone was a bit off. Something more of chill jazz might be more fitting with the atmosphere and not too loud because the natural sound is still the best. Overall, this is a recommended...

I love the one on Sunset road since a over a decade, my go to. However this one in Munggu is still hit and miss unfortunately. Had a couple of great meals and also poor ones, seems to depend on the chef - i hope they can improve on consistency as it will then become my go to place locally. The staff apart from one guy also need to be taught more about the food - they seem to have little knowledge when asked (in indonesian) what the food contains. Its a gem of a spot, love the location with the airy ricefields, but you guys need to get more on it with management to make sure its a success - i recommend people to go there, but if the food is like i had last time, they will be unhappy. 5 stars coming if you can improve it.

An update… still little improvement in the service knowledge. They are very friendly but need more training - if they dont know what is in the “Daily special” then this is a management fail. Your location on Sunset Road is incredible and runs like a machine, this one needs some work still.

Also fish burritos - i love them! But please serve with the same 3 sauces you have in Sunset Road then they are perfect!! (Salsa, guac, green chilli).
