Would give 10 stars out of 5.... and the 'farm' is in perpetual change since its inception during the pandemic.
Our family of 2 adults and 3 children under 7 years were celebrating my daughters' 4th birthday in Ubud. I had known about Sanggraloka Farms through an IG sponsored ad and it looked magnificent.
I made a reservation for the kids to partake in harvesting from the garden, planting, a Balinese cooking class, fish feeding, painting and swimming in the natural pools.
Thought that maximum we would be there for 4 hours but we stayed the entire day from the moment they opened at 11am to the time they closed in the evening! There were just so many things to do and see.
We were greeted by the parking staff member who was so enthusiastic he should win a medal. Such a nice person to be greeted by and he helped direct us to another person inside the gate in this magical gigantic valley of a place. We later saw him at the end of the evening asking us how we enjoyed our visit. Same enthusiastic smile and wished us a good journey home. He felt so genuine a human being.
Inside we were greeted by 2 other staff (Wayan and Adi) who took us to our first activity in the garden on that first level. There are numerous levels. Had no idea this place was so vast and with so many nooks and points of interests until we slowly descended down to the waterfalls and I looked up from below. We had trekked so far!
My kids were given such attention and care for their enjoyment and safety by so many staff. They were all incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, personable and helpful folks.
Wow all my expectations exceeded.
The Balinese cooking class was held outside near the top level under a covered area. Great location to take photos while you be a chef. We were able to pre-choose 3 recipes to make and I chose sate lilit, es daluman and pisang goreng. The staff tended to the children patiently never rushing them to make the food but so carefully explained things to them the processes. It was good that we coincided this with lunchtime so the children were hungry and could eat some cooked sate after they bbq it themselves.
The kids even picked the Daluman leaves from the garden to make the green jellyish drink with coconut milk. They were really in a concentrated mode while they planted young lettuce plants and harvested turmeric/ginger/edible flowers.
The fish feeding is at the fish pond at the bottom beside the natural pools. Another photogenic spot and some action there.
Currently there are a couple storage spots to leave your belongings while you swam or went around the waterfall. Also changerooms. If you tend to get cool from swimming then bring your own towel or you can rent one for 30k. Some of the pools have some slippery algae at the bottoms so do care when you step in. My kids pretended they were 'skating' on it!
We always had at least one staff member who was with us for each activity especially when we had to make the trek to the bottom which was many steps and with 3 small children. We felt very safe having them looked after in a new space.
Even painting is a true pleasure as it is not only just watercolor painting... you will be painting in one of the top levels with a magnificent view of the valley below and rice fields across.
It was a good to do activities from the top to the bottom and back up that way the hike felt shorter and we were not all exhausted.
Lastly, we ate dinner here and the kids were given their sate lilit dish they made plus rice which they munched up quickly. My husband and I ordered food and drink off the menu and we all ate overlooking the cliff. What a blessing to be able to experience this dreamy place. The fried fish, ribs (Iga), sambal were SO delectable as well affordable (prices not jacked up ridiculously).
The staff surprised my daughter with a stack of birthday pancake which they wrote in jam sauce 'Happy Birthday' and many of them came out and sang to her. That was the sweetest gesture that made her day and ultimately the...

Sanggraloka Farm Resort: A Farm-to-Table Delight My recent lunch at Sanggraloka Farm Resort was an absolute culinary delight. Nestled amidst serene surroundings, this charming resort offers a truly unique dining experience. The restaurant's menu showcases the best of local produce, sourced directly from the resort's own farm. The dishes are prepared with care and attention to detail, resulting in a symphony of flavors. I was particularly impressed by the freshness and quality of the ingredients. I opted for the grilled salmon with vegetable medley, and it was simply divine. The salmon was cooked to perfection, and the accompanying vegetables were bursting with flavor. The presentation was also impeccable, adding to the overall dining experience. To complement my meal, I enjoyed a refreshing glass of freshly squeezed juice. It was a delightful and healthy way to quench my thirst. Read moreA beautiful, idyllic place. We booked a cooking class for two people and were warmly welcomed. The class begins with a delicious welcome drink and an introduction to the menu. You then take a short walk to the botanical garden, from which all the ingredients for the dishes are freshly picked. From tomatoes, ginger and basil to local herbs. Then the chopping and cooking of at least 5 courses begins. The entire team takes a lot of time for everyone and tells them a lot about the individual ingredients and their positive effects on health. We really enjoyed the approximately 3.5 hours, had lots of great conversations and a delicious meal. The quantities that are cooked are definitely enough (unfortunately we didn't manage to eat everything), but it was soooo delicious! We were especially blown away by the very simple dessert. Including tax etc. we paid around 632,500 IRP per person. The price is relatively high, but I still think it was worth it and we would do the cooking class again if we were in Bali again. However, I have to deduct one star for the ambience, as there is currently a lot of construction going on and the natural backdrop and noise were sometimes a bit distracting. However, the team apologised for this several times - it was really very polite.
We would like to thank the whole team for this incredible day and wonderful experience....
