I met the man who owns this restaurant a year or so ago. He was sitting in the corner at Serenity with his laptop, typing away. At some point I interrupted him to ask him what he was working on so eagerly. He said it was a business idea. We had a lovely conversation and exchanged social media handles. Since then I’ve been a peeping tom, watching as he develops this concept that is now called Seoul Soul Project, a beautiful restaurant.
I decided to sneak in unbeknownst to him because I wanted to see and experience what he’d built. My intention was to write an honest review of my experience.
From the photos of the restaurant and the entryway-I wasn’t prepared for what I’d experienced. The service staff treated me as if I’d walked into a Michelin Star Restaurant. Ok. I wasn’t expecting that.
I looked at the menu and still somehow undervaluing the space, I thought these prices are a bit high. I was here to support my friend and so I ordered the kimchi fried rice. I wanted beef and the waiter, again was eager to accommodate.
That’s when my perception began to shift. I was able to eat the food I really wanted to eat without pork! Huge win for me.
Then my food came out and I was caught by surprise. Literally shocked and awed.
My kimchi rice with beef was served on a hot pan, protected by wood and there were 2 servers standing in front of me. An egg was cracked into the pan and right in front of my eyes, I was watching my egg fry in real time.
Everything was clearly thought out in this concept. The beautiful chopsticks and the spoon. The servers and their service. The food and the food experience.
The taste and its accompaniments. Just when I think I’d ask for salt, I had a flavor burst. He did his thing with this concept.
It’s extremely hard to surprise me and this was more than a pleasant surprise. It was an experience that I didn’t know that I needed.
So if you’re in the area, visit Seoul Soul Project. I strongly suggest you get there before there’s a waiting list. And even if there is, wait. It’s totally...
Read moreI really want to give this place a great review but I think an honest review is best, the atmosphere and the staff are wonderful 👍 very friendly and helpful staff, explaining the dishes and menu. The atmosphere is fun and lively.
The restaurant was full when we arrived, which was a good sign, but we were told it would delay our order and we needed to be patient. No problem, I understand this... Our meals arrived after about 15-20 min. not bad but before our drinks which was odd, because we only order coffees that arrived after our meals and came separately 5 min apart.
We both ordered the same meal which was a beef with rice dish, essentially fried rice... The presentation was nice but I didn't particularly enjoy the flavours.
After, we decided to try their most ordered Mango Bingsu, the presentation was great.. but I was surprised the bingsu ice was mixed with coconut flakes, unexpected since it wasn't mentioned on the menu... It also melted so fast that we only were able to enjoy some of the ice before we had a bowl of water/milk with mango slices... Afterwards, for 2 coffees, 2 fried rice meals and 1 dessert... The bill was over 400k
While the atmosphere and staff were wonderful... The food and cost did not make this a good experience for us and we won't...
Read moreI have driven past hundreds of times since I first moved to Bali, been very curious because it looked cool but never took the leap.
My girlfriend stumbled across Seoul Soul for dinner with her brother who was visiting from the U.K by complete chance after going for a massage close by and said it was AMAZING. A happy accident!
Being honest, I never every thought Korean food was my thing.... I couldn't have been more wrong. I love it!
I have yet to visit the restaurant personally, mainly due to the rain (which I hope to rectify soon because the INSTA looks soo cool) so it's been a go-jek delivery but the food, the customer service and staff have been FIRST CLASS.
Seoul Soul is my new favourite restaurant and that's testament to their work because I have a number of favourites in Canggu, Berawa and Pererenan. The staff always go above and beyond which in Bali is rare trust me.
For first time visitors it's all great but I highly recommend the Pork Belly Rice Bowl and Yang Nyum Chicken with the Gochujang sauce. BANGING!
Side note, they also have Karaoke AND Mario Kart if you book in advance which is quite possibly the best game ever.
Overall, fantastic food, great service and good vibes. Check it out! You won't be disappointed trust me.
Keep up the good work...
