The owner/manager has clearly put some serious thought and preparation into creating this new place in Pererenan, just a short distance from the beach. The standard of quality for this place is quite high for such a casual spot, especially by Bali standards. Very good English spoken by all staff, but they love it if you can throw in whatever bahasa you can speak. :-)
Drinks were carefully prepared and we could see that active training was taking place with senior bartenders effectively overseeing juniors.
I am a huge nasi goreng lover, and the version served here was by far the best I've had during six weeks in Bali. Bumbu (seasoning) was spot-on, the pickled carrot/cucmumber mix was nailed, the fried egg was perfecty cooked, and there was enough leafy veg to carry the rice. Only thing was the krupuk (crackers) were a little chewy. But that bumbu... absolutely perfect. Ask for extra chabai (chillies) on the side if you like it hotter.
There was a bule (European) DJ on the night we went, and we're told there will be a regular mix of local and international talent on the decks during weekends. The guy playing on this night was dropping some really lovely disco and smooth house – our feet were tapping but it did not distract from coversation, food, or drinks.
This is an open-fronted place, so don't expect to escape the heat, humidity or mosquitoes. But if you're prepared for that, it looks like The Flow is going to go places in the growing...
Read moreMy partner and I visited for lunch today. This new spot is incredible! The design of the space is beautiful, with a wonderful mix of reclaimed wood, raw brick and concrete as well as being open on two sides, allowing fantastic views and for the sea breeze to pass through. The staff were very friendly and attentive - even getting smiles from the kitchen! My partner ordered a gado gado, substituting the egg for extra tempeh to vegan-ise it, and said it was one of her favourite gado gados in the three months we've lived here. I ordered the vegan burger, which tasted fresh and delicious, though did seem that it was missing a couple of ingredients stated on the menu... however, it's not unusual for restaurants in Bali to just omit them if they don't have them in stock. The burger came with a handful of potato wedges, which were great, though did need to ask for a sauce to dip (the aioli, as listed in the burger, would be a great addition) . We also shared the green Popeye juice, which was full of spirulina - healthy and tasty! Made, who owns the restaurant, made sure he checked in on us, and is an incredibly friendly guy. Given we're local, we'll be sure to return time and again, and may just be our new...
Read moreI definitely need to give a shout out to The Flow. This could be one of the most underrated restaurants in Canggu. I forgot about this place for awhile but have now been back twice in two days. This morning I had their quinoa and seeds porridge with fresh fruit on top snd a delicious fruit compote on the side. It had super fresh ingredients and most importantly was lovingly prepared. You could see it and taste it. The staff is also super friendly and attentive. I saw someone comment negatively on the service, but that must have been on off day because I’ve only had good service here. The only thing that would make this place better is the WiFi. The WiFi signal is not good so this keeps me from coming back more often. If they changed this one thing would really help their business. Other than that, LOVE The Flow.
UNFORTUNATELY I AM HAVING TO MODIFY MY REVIEW:
WiFi has become very unstable. I came here today to eat and work snd the internet was terrible. Just had to eat and leave which felt like a waste of time and money. If I’m going to pay for breakfast somewhere I need to be able to work as well. And the service has not been great. So unfortunately I can’t come...
