Munduk and especially the Warung Classic were a highlight of my recent trip to Bali.
I discovered the beautiful village is a nice contrast to some other tourist-crowded and mostly hot places - and it's also a good starting point for tours like dolphin swimming or a visit to the incredibly green rain forest. Sourrounded by forrests of clove trees and other flourishing local plants, I found the beautiful Warung classic.
Going down the few steps to the restaurant is absolutely worth it. The owners are incredibly welcoming and friendly, so we quickly opened up and got close with them in the following days. - Yes, we repeatedly went to the Warung Classic, as we enjoyed the atmosphere, the owners warm and modest personality, the service and of course the food.
Having a beautiful long-range view into the valley and to the surrounding mountains, we enjoyed several items of the menu, all of them tasted excellent! We especially liked the cap cay, which was offered as a main course, not as a soup, as it is typically the case.
The food and the drinks were always both cheap and very delicious and made with fresh ingredients. Also special wishes were fulfulled, e.g. we wanted to try some food more spicy (per default, food for tourists typically is very little spicy in most Bali places).
Having worked in abroad, Dedi (the owner) speaks English excellently and can give a lot of useful tips and explanations in case you want to get a deeper understanding of Balinese people, traditions and life in Indonesia. Also, he had useful inside information for details of our travel planning on Bali and neighbouring islands.
Dedi's also an excellent driver and tour guide. We went on two tours with him and it was an extraordinary pleasure. Though we liked all tours we made in Bali, tours with Dedy were escecially familiar, more fun and more informative than usual tours.
I can full-heartedly recommend the The Warung Classic in Munduk and Dedi's tour service! When I come back to Bali I will definitely visit the...
Read moreA Hidden Gem of Indonesian Flavors This little Indonesian restaurant truly surprised me. It may not look like much from the outside, but the food is absolutely fantastic. Every dish was full of rich, authentic flavors — you can tell they cook with heart and tradition. I tried the nasi goreng and chicken satay, and both were perfectly cooked and well-balanced.
The prices are also incredibly reasonable for the quality you get. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re getting way more than what you pay for. The staff were kind and welcoming, and the service was fast without feeling rushed.
If you’re looking for a no-frills, genuinely delicious Indonesian meal at a great price, this spot is a must-try. I’ll definitely be...
Read moreWarung Classic has delicious food made fresh and with great care. Enjoy the fabulous view from the balcony. I recommend the eggplant balado, grilled chicken and desserts. Warung Classic can also organise trips. If you are looking for something to do around Munduk, are not sure where to go next or how to get there, I highly recommend talking to the staff. Dede drove us to Amed in a very comfortable car, making a number of stops at wonderful places, including the fabulous hot springs and to a cheap and beautiful seaview restaurant for lunch. He can offer heaps of advice on where to go, stay, eat etc. Thank you Dede and Warung Classic! You made our stay in Munduk and trip to Amed a highlight of...
