Had a great experience other times at this restaurant, however this time something was off. Ordering was fine but then several items were out (burgers and salmon)and so we had to choose several other food items. Then they came back and said they had burgers still, so that was good cause that was what I originally wanted. It came and it was delicious. The problem came again when our table with two family needed to split the bill. We had originally ordered three burgers (two single cheese burgers and a double beef burger). They only had enough meat for two, the cheese and double beef. That was ok, we already ordered another meal to make up for the missing burger. However it still showed up on the bill and since I had to split the bill and my friend was the only one left he had to pay for the original order of three burgers. There wasn't good communication between the kitchen staff, the waiter and the cashier. They didn't confirm what was given and what was cancelled. My friend was tired of the fuss so he paid for the extra burger and left. The food was great! But all the "running" around about what is available and what was out, then having to pay for something we didnt get, left a sore taste in my mouth. We like the restaurant, and will probably return but will have to really watch them to make sure things are...

The taste of seafood is highly dependent on the freshness of the ingredients, the cooking method, and the seasoning. Fresh seafood has a sweet, subtle flavor that showcases the natural taste of the ocean. When cooked properly, seafood can be tender and moist with a slightly firm texture.
There are plenty of ways to prepare seafood, from grilled and baked to fried and boiled. Each method has its own unique taste and texture, but some cooking styles can mask the natural flavor of the seafood. Using a light hand with seasoning and not overcooking the seafood is key to a successful dish.

Read moreI recently dined at Ocean Signature in Balikpapan and had a delightful experience. The highlight was the ikan kerapu bakar parape, a grilled grouper topped with a rich, tangy parape sauce—a Makassar-style blend of shallots, tamarind, and sweet soy sauce. The fish was perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful, making each bite a treat.
Next, I tried the fried sotong (fried squid), which was crispy on the outside and tender inside. It was lightly seasoned, allowing the natural sweetness of the squid to shine through. A simple yet satisfying dish.
The sweet sour chicken was another standout. The chicken pieces were crispy and coated in a vibrant, tangy sauce with just the right balance of sweetness and acidity. It paired wonderfully with steamed rice.
The ambiance at Ocean Signature is cozy and welcoming, with friendly staff and prompt service. The restaurant offers a variety of seafood and Indonesian dishes, all prepared with fresh ingredients. Whether you're a local or a visitor, it's a great spot to enjoy authentic flavors in a...
