Maybe we were unlucky when we went here. I read most reviews of this place are very good which is why we chose it. Vegetable with oncom and the fried Tahu were very nice. We ordered ikan bakar, however when it came we could clearly see it had been fried and not bakar. When we asked the waiter about it he said this was the process at the restaurant, they always fry the fish first and then bakar. He was not very sincere and most of the service we received was very average. It felt like they wanted us out of there as quick as possible. I would suggest this restaurant change their menu to say "Ikan Goreng bakar" instead. I have eaten ikan bakar all over Indonesia and I have never seen them fry the fish first. Also all the tables were dirty and left over dirty plates and glasses were not cleared for more than an hour while we're sitting there even though we were the only table there. It was not a nice ambience. There is no manager on duty or anyone checking what the waiters were doing and they spend most of their time wondering around aimlessly and chatting to each other. I would not recommend this restaurant in...
Read moreOne of the restaurants I've eaten at since my childhood. After a couple of years not visiting here, I finally got the chance to eat again here a few days ago. For me I usually would order the "historical" crab fried rice since it'd got that distinctly tasty recipe & flavour I still can't find elsewhere. Unfortunately, now that menu isn't available anymore here. So I decided to just order ayam serundeng & fried tofu w/ kremes. I loved all of them, the meat of the fried chicken was clean & juicy. They tasted just about right for me. I also love the taste of the crackers (kerupuk) they provide inside closed jars. The place is mostly clean & really spacious. The WiFi connection is also okay. It's just that now the prices are more expensive than it used to be though & too far from my place so I don't visit this place that...
Read moreRasa Raja means "king of taste". Sure enough the restaurant does live up to its name. It was a really delicious Sundanese restaurant with a really elaborate locally-inspired decor, excellent service, and delicious food and beverages with a reasonable price. Definitely worth a try when you visit Bandung. My local friend recommended this place.
What to order? Hmm, anything on the menu is great. Maybe start with the basics, like chicken satay, grilled gurame fish, calamari (Indo style), and fried enoki mushrooms (which I loved). And some fresh coconut juice to go with it. Ah perfect.
Interestingly enough, TripAdvisor ranked this #1 of 149 restaurants in Bandung (although I'm not sure how much faith I put in TripAdvisor). Anyway, give it a shot and let me know...
