Sate DJ — Restaurant in Bandung City

My first time actually eating some sate asin kind (salty satay). Located in the middle of the city this might be a good place to eat after a day of strolling around the town. The price is quite cheap and the portion is great. You’ll get a pretty big chunks of meat on the skewers. I ordered some Sate Kambing (lamb) and some Sate Ayam (chicken), I ordered some of the kambing ‘asin pedes banget’ (spiciest) and ‘asin pedas sedang’ (mild). It’s salty, if you ever tried Sate Taichan this might be a level up from Taichan. Sate DJ is not your typical Satay Madura with peanut sauce. They ain’t got no sauce on this one and it’s actually dry and salty. The sprinkles of chilli powder and MSG with some salt definitely will start your mouth water. They give you a generous piece of meat and a fatty meat in the middle of the skewers (each skewer contains 3 piece of meat), Kambing is better than Ayam because I feel like Kambing can actually absorb the seasoning and the seasoning compliments the taste of a lamb. I VERY MUCH RECOMMEND you to order a bowl of Kuah Soto. The saltiness of the satay can be neutralized by the Kuah Soto. It’s combination to die for. I also suggest you to just buy mineral water rather than tea or other drinks because after all those salt, you will need a lot of water. GOOD SATAY and a salty one. You might not like this dish if you’re not into salty food. 4 out of fricking 5 stars...

Sate DJ is a small restaurant in Bandung serving mainly satay dishes in the what today is commonly referred as the "satay taichan"-style which lacks the spicy peanut sauce of the regular Javanese satay, instead it has a buttery, savoury, salty flavoured seasoning and of course a level of spicyness to your liking. It gained popularity as there are hundreds if not thousands of street vendors developing their own recipe and variety of satay taichan but I have to admit this is by far the best I've ever tried. Being one of the pioneers and the earliest vendors to develop the taichan variant it surely lives up to its expectations.

It has 3 meat options (chicken, beef, and lamb) and 4 levels of spicyness (non-spicy, mildly spicy, spicy, and very spicy). A plate consisting of 10 skewers costs 15,000 IDR for the chicken satays and 17,000 IDR for lamb and beef satays of the same amount. The only thing that this vendor needs to improve is the scarecity of space during peak hours especially Saturday nights, where people flock there continuously for hours. BAD EXPERIENCE IN HERE! EWH. SORRY YA MSH BANYAK TEMPAT SATE LAIN. TOLONG OWNER KALAU BACA REVIEW SAYA, DIINGET SAYA KESINI JAM 6.30 SORE TGL 1 JANUARI 2020, BER 4. KRONOLOGI : Saya dtg bersama keluarga saya ber 4, sy dtg duduk, lalu saya order 20 tusuk sate dan 1 soto ayam serta 2 nasi putih dan 2 air le minerale. Saat bayar, saya bertanya ada metode pembayaran apa saja, namun penjaga kasir ogah2an jawabnya, lalu saua tanya ulandengan ramah, " mas kalau yg cashback apa? ". SAYA TANYA SAMPAI 2X karna ga di respon (masih berusaha sabar). Akhirnya dia jawab " Saya gatau yg cashback apa". Akhirnya saya bayar pakai ovo.

Saat sudah duduk, tidak lama skitar 5-10 menit makanan datang, sate , soto dan nasi. Yang saya kaget, soto saya hanya kuah. Saya order soto ayam. Bukan kuah. Lalu adik saya berusaha bertanya ke mas-mas yang antar, namun dia ga jawab pertanyaan adik saya (entah beneran ga denger atau pura2, biarlah hanya dia yg tau, pdhl adik saya panggil sampai 5-6x "mas,mas,mas" dia cuma nengok ga respon. Akhirnya mama saya berinisiatif samperin. Saat disamperin dia ngomongnya "oh soto ya, saya kira kuah doang" 🙂. Akhirnya diganti jadi soto

Sembari mengganti soto, kaka saya bertanya "mas, ini sate gaada bumbunya?". Kaka saya bertanya karena dia melihat customer lain makan dengan bumbu kacang, namun saat kaka saya bertanya, tau apa responnya???!. Dia menjawab sembari pergi " itu ada kecap" 🙂. Ok, kami disitu semua sudah sangat menahan emosi. Yang tadinya sangat excited buat nyobain sate yg katanya enal dan gabuka cbg dimana2x, jadi males. Pengen buru2 udahan aja.

Saat saya bayar di awal, saya order le mineral, orang kasirnya tidak bilang kalau kita harus ambil sendiri ke kulkas 🙂. Ya saya tanya dong pas mas nya anterin makanan ke meja " mas minumnya td saya pesan le minerale 2". Dia respon dengan juteknya "kalau minum ambil sendiri di kulkas". 🙂

OK intinya, saya sangat amat super kecewa sama pelayannya. Beberapa bulan lalu saya pernah kesini sama teman2 saya, namun lagi sangat ramai dan kami take away, jadi tidak tau pelayanannya seperti apa.

Menurut saya, mau seenak apapun makanan anda, seramai apapun restoran anda, jika pelayanannya tetap seperti ini, mungkin customer akan malas untuk datang lagi.
