Great food but noisy and crowded environment and (nice people but) overall bad service.
Went there with 3 of my friend and we have to wait for more than 5 minutes for table to be cleaned.
There are two floor and we have to went down and wait for another 10 or so minutes to order as there are a queu. The cashier with pink shirt and a hijab keep giving me and my friend a stink eye when we were ordering as one of my friends had to look at the menu for around a minute at the cashier since we weren't given the menu upstairs, the qr menu did not work and the menus are at the cashier so everyone is looking at it at the cashier. Personally we didn't hold up the line as long as the person before us, so it shouldnt be much a problem for the cashier as I look through the menu when the person before us were ordering since they took a long time. We ordered immedietely when its our turn, our hold up is only due to my friend changing their order and me asking my friend to ask another friend if they wanted to drink tea and my friend debated about ordering to set of tea ( friend : "just ask them to add another cup for C since B don't want to drink anything since she feels neuseaus after drinking too much boba" me : "can't do that, the maximum of the cup is two cup per tea F : "no it says refills maximum 2 time" Me : "and 2 cup per one set of tea, plus if she feel neaseaus it'd be good for her to drink tea" F: "okay then") This conversation should take around around a minute, us ordering a minute and another one of my friend to look through the menu and order prob take prob 2 minute, so i don't think it's stink eye worthy since we immedietely, after those prob 4-5 minute pay. Truly dont see how anything here is stink eye worthy when its their fault for putting the menu at the cashier.
Also waited for almost 10 minutes as there are onky one bathroom in the crowded cafe
The food is great, variative and affordable, nothing to complain about and compliment to the chef for creating those delicious unique dishes.
The cafe is aesthetically pleasing but its too small and overcrowded, so it ended being noisy and warm, but i do like the way the parfume made the place smells great all the time.
The server are nice and friendly but its obvious the workload is way too much, it might be due to them having to also work in the kitchen, to go up and down and the cafe being so crowded, we have to wait a long time for our table to be cleaned and for them to take the tray, empty dishes etc. The layout is also inefficient, we have to go downstair for anything especially to take our order and to look at the menu which cause the cashier to form a queu.
My last complain would be when my crepe brulee were accidentally ordered double so i ask them to put it in a take out and they told me to go downstair to take it when we have finished eating. WE did just that and i even ordered another one for my brother but THEY forgot and we were interogated by the cashier, thankfully my friend remembered who and when but the cashier with the pink shirt and grey hijab seems adamant that we lied and pull out the cctv and keep showing different time after we have sent away the crepe brulee and accused me eating that crepe brulee, when i ate one crepe brulee but again, i ordered 2. The person that took the brulee arrived and it took them awhile to confirm it with him, after that they seem annoyed and just took the crepe brulee that already put in a take out (which we assume as ours silently) to us. It was humiliating because people were looking and talking about us, one guy were even laughing next to us joking about us complaing, as if im stealing it which is illogical because if i do why would i order another one on top of my 250k+ meals? While we waited 30 minutes for my last crepe brulee the girl come over and the only thing she did is a small "sorry ya kak".
Overall the food is great but coming in person will ruin the experience just order take...
Read moreInitially, I wanted to give one star due to the poor service but gave two instead, considering the food. We queued for 17 minutes to order our food, waited for another hour to receive our desserts and drinks, and were asked to leave within 15 minutes after the food arrived.
We arrived at 3:55 PM and had to queue to order for dine-in. The staff managing the queue was nice, actively monitoring available seats upstairs and arranging seats for us. She asked if outdoor seating was okay, but when I went upstairs to take a look, it was actually very hot, so I requested an indoor seat and said we were okay to wait. However, even after we ordered at 4:12 PM, she still couldn’t find an available seat for us. We understood that she was extremely busy, so we waited upstairs and eventually found a seat.
However, the nightmare began here. The restaurant was very busy at that time, so we anticipated a long wait. But after 45 minutes, we realized that a family who arrived 30 minutes after us got their order first. So we went down to check with the staff. In the end, we received our order at 5:12 PM, exactly an hour after placing it! The loaf cheesecake brownie was good, but the mango towel roll cake arrived warm. Temperature really affects the texture and taste of the mango towel roll, it could have been much better if it had been served cold. The drinks were refreshing too. Overall, we were quite satisfied with the desserts and drinks.
However, about 15 minutes after the food arrived (around 5:25 PM - 5:29 PM, though I couldn’t remember the exact time), a staff came to us with a "Reserved" sign and asked, "Do you know you can only dine in until xxxx?"(I couldn’t hear the exact time clearly). I was quite baffled by the question and told her, "But we just received our food." She told us we could finish our food but just wanted to inform us that someone had reserved our seat. I told her, "If your food had arrived earlier, we would have left earlier." She said she would ask the customer who reserved our table to wait if they arrived before we finished, claiming they would arrive around 5:50 - 6:00 PM. She then placed the "Reserved" sign on our table and left.
We felt quite frustrated at this point—as we had waited patiently for an hour, yet within 15 minutes, they wanted us to leave. In fact, there were already a few empty two-person tables at that time, so we couldn’t understand why she insisted on placing the "Reserved" sign on our table. Did we accidentally get a popular seat or something?
It was really unpleasant having to eat my desserts with a "Reserved" sign on the table. It felt like we were being pressured to finish our food, even though desserts are meant to be enjoyed. In the end, we finished our food and left around 5:45 PM.
Another side episode, the cashier didn’t have small change when we ordered and assured us they would send it with our food. Of course, it didn’t arrive, and we had to ask the cashier again before leaving. We initially didn’t want the change back (only Rp 1,000), but we were so upset with the encounter that we decided to ask for it. They still didn’t have change, but luckily, the boss/superior was there and gave us Rp 2,000 instead.
This was actually my second visit to Mula Patisserie, but I am extremely disappointed by their service this time. Given the poor service, I don’t think I will be revisiting the place again. The food is good, but not exceptional, we could easily get the same quality of food with a better dining experience and service elsewhere. I hope they improve their system and workflow to avoid such issues in the future. I really hope no one else experiences the same thing I did, as it was truly an unpleasant experience...
Read moreNot the typical dessert cafe, they specialise in cheesecake, brownies and crepes! The interior was so cosy with a nice toilet and there’s 2 floors with lots of seats. There’s also a power outlet near every seat so you can charge your devices.
Creme Brûlée crepe had this caramelised sugar top with custard, strawberry, strawberry jam and fresh cream. Mango Crepe had mango syrup, fresh mango and fresh cream. Both crepes were light and nice to share. It’s mostly soft.
Brownies were so delectable! It was served warm and it was well cooked and it’s not the fudgy kind. There’s no nuts in it. It wasn’t very salty too. Can I say the best part was the warm molten chocolate in between bites? The matcha/ vanilla cream sauce didn’t do much, could help to moisten your brownie if you felt it was too dry.
The crispy brownie was a disappointment, it’s just cornflakes mixed into the brownie batter.
The cheesecake brownie is for cheesecake lovers. It’s just like eating a cheesecake and a brownie at the same time. It’s a Japanese type of baked cheesecake.
The biscoff brownie just had biscoff spread and biscoff cookie crumbles on top of the brownie. It was quite dry overall due to the crumbles and it didn’t have as much molten chocolate bits as the sea salt brownie.
The mains were alright. Salted egg chicken rice was freshly fried with salted egg sauce but the spiced rice was a little cold. The egg was also not freshly cooked. Chicken Nanban used the spiced rice, the mayonnaise used on the chicken is addictive and the omelette was freshly cooked. Nothing went wrong with these 2 mains. Though I don’t really recommend it.
Drinks were at best average. Lychee tea wasn’t aromatic and had a lot of sugar syrup. Nutella coffee tasted like instant powdered hazelnut coffee. No strong aroma of tea nor coffee. I’d say the coffee is not an...
