Greenland Hotel — Hotel in Batam City

Had an unhappy experience with the hotel facilities.

1. I don't think so it falls under 2 star also... Terrible whole room smells of drainage. Changed room twice.

2. Toilet amenities is not properly measured and fix, can't sit on toilet bowl seat as it was fixed 5 cm next to the wall, those whom are bigger in size can't fit in.

3. Breakfast left with flies as there were no one for breakfast. Top ups very slow.

4. Taxi drivers are annoying once you step out of the hotel lobby, they will glued to you and ask for taxi ride in taxi, if you say no need and thank you, they are not happy.

5. Strictly no online grab taxi's as genuine grab drivers being bullied by the normal taxi drivers on the road as they will stop grab drivers from taking their passengers. NO GRAB TAXI BUSINESS IN BATAM!

6. I choose different drivers on my 3 days 2 night trip... Over there they are hard up for business especially with foreigners, this attitude first starts from the immigration (I was slaughtered) to my last day at batam Indonesia.

7. Avoid going to BATAM on the day of public holidays as you may get slaughtered if they see red or your departure vessels from Singapore land.

8. Good Friday became a Bad Friday for me. Join the normal queue even you need to wait for hours, if you want fast immigration check out, get ready for the slaughter, targeted reds with families.

9. They want revenue but...

First of all, when we arrived we did not receive rooms in the same level. That's okay. What's not okay is that the ground floor room (!) is terribly designed. Tiled and with sockets in the worst locations. What's worse, both rooms have no windows, so it smells and looks like a prison cell. ||Secondly, the Wi-Fi is in name only. You can connect to it, but absolutely nothing loads, not even text. I have to use my mobile data to write this very review. ||Next, the hot water doesn't work, and the staff are absolutely duplicitous and terrible at service. When I approached them, they are all smiles and said that it would work in 5 minutes. After they didn't, in 10 minutes, I approached them again, only to learn that I'm supposed to leave it running for 5 minutes. It took 10 minutes for it to unreliably splutter to life. Worst shower in my life, since the water comes in random bursts, and I've been in the army. ||Well, and the bedsheets are filthy, causing rashes to appear. Real horror story right there. ||To cap it off, the breakfast has a total of 1 dish (the rest are mains-rice, porridge, rice noodles, bread). Not even cereal and milk, and the coffee is tasteless. ||Absolutely avoid this place like the plague. I think its only purpose is for prostitution...

I asked the girl receptionist (can't remember the name, but she worked for the day shift) help to call for taxi for me and my family to go to the Ferry Terminal the next morning on 6.30am local time.

So the next day, I received call from the night shift receptionist on 5.30am local time informing that the taxi is already arrived. I was panicked since I wasn't ready yet. I clearly remember that I told her 6.30am since we will be catching 8.00am ferry trip. Luckily I already packed my things, so i just need to get myself ready.

We get into the taxi at around 6.00am. Before moving, the taxi driver check with us where were we going, & I told him to the Ferry Terminal. Then he burst to laughter, told us that he got informed that we are going to the airport. The taxi driver also told us that this is not the first time that the girl doing this kind of mistake.

For the hotel part, it is worth the price you're paying. It is also nearby to restaurants & convenient store, so it's easy for you to go to eat or getting snacks.

Hoping the girl will improve herself to serve her...
