Tan Ek Tjoan is one of the oldest bakery from Bogor established since 1921. The history behind this bakery is long and interesting from my pov. The owner, Tan Ek Tjoan and wife build their bakery from their own house with purpose and targeting Dutch people who back then many of them were resided at Bogor. As time went by not only Dutch people enjoy the bread but also Indonesian especially when the locals were the ones help to sell the bread and make it well-known.
Anyway, I tried their restaurant which part of the bakery house right across the Ekalokasari Plasa. The building itself was old with simple dining area, they really kept it vintage.
They have spices rice with green chilli traditional fried chicken for 59k, the chicken noodle costs 45k, fritters such as tempe mendoan costs 25k. The snacks like celorot (4.5k), sticky rice bacang (chicken/meat) will cost you 21k, and rhum raisin with non alcohol rum for 37k. The price for the dishes quite above average. Everytime I eat them, take me back, years back to my childhood time. Really taste good and because they dont use additional preservatives, they should be consumed in about 3 days, depending on the type of bread.
I only wish that the bakery can be renovated and even turn into cafe as they already have their ice cream...
