Joglo Panglipuran Borobudur — Restaurant in Central Java

A large cozy restaurant with a strong Javanese atmosphere offering a traditional spicy savoury dish called "mangut" from freshwater fish, and the signature is beong fish (baung, Hemibagrus planiceps), an endemic fish at the nearby River Progo. Strategic location at Jl. Syailendra Raya in Wanurejo, Borobudur District, Magelang Regency, Central Java Province about 2.5 km from the world-famous Borobudur Temple. Customers can choose the beong mangut from the tail, the body or the head part. Nice dining huts, joglo halls and outdoor tables. They play non-stop recorded Javanese traditional gamelan music. Inexpensive. On my recent stop with my wife, we had a savory beong mangut (5/5), a hot pandan tea (4/5), a not so hot tapay drink (5/5) and crispy flour rambak chips (5/5). The savory fried stuffed tofu was perfect (5/5), but the blade fried banana was too soft and rather sticky (3/5). Clean toilets at the restaurant. A parking lot with a roof for motorbikes, and a vast open parking yard for cars and buses. There is a clean enough musholla (moslem prayer place) with urinoirs and washing places but it needs maintenance. Good free WiFi. On the road to the Borobudur, about 3km before you reach the Borobudur is the Panglipuran entertaiment complex, which includes a restaurant. We went there for early dinner. The menu is very extensive and contains magelang special food, but since this contains meat we were not so interested. Instead we went for karedok, sayur asem and nasi bakar tuna, oseng2 papaya. Dulu dulu saya suka datang sendiri kesini bbrp kali krna makanannya enak dan suasananya juga unik.

Makanya restaurant dan makanan disini saya rekomendasikan kepada teman2 untuk makan saat kunjungan ke Borobudur.

Kami datang ber5 untuk makan siang tanggal 17 Desember Kami datang pukul 13 kurang makanan tiba pukul 14.30an,

Pesanan saya datang duluan, walaupun kami pesannya bersamaan. Nasi yang saya dapatkan sudah tidak hangat, begitu juga tahu tempe goreng, tidak digoreng dadakan, semua serba dingin.

Hampir kami putus asa karena menunggu lama, kami berencana untuk membungkus saja makanan yang kami pesan, tapi karena sudah terlanjur datang, akhirnya teman2 makan ditempat.

Akan tetapi..... nasi teman2 saya masih berasa aron ( tidak matang sempurna ), kemungkinan makanan datang lama karena nunggu nasi sedang dimasak dan tahu tempe mereka juga keburu dingin.

Alangkah baiknya jika dapat mempertahankan/mengembalikan image baik restaurant yang dulu sangat bagus bagi tamu repeater apalagi yang jauh2 datang dari luar kota macam kami ini.
