I used to review this hotel a year ago. It was fantastic. That's is the reason I went back to the same hotel with my family a month ago (June 2022). However, this time, it was a disaster.
Apparently, they were nice when they had not many guests. Last year, we were the only guest who stayed 6 nights in 2 rooms in front of swimming pool. Last month, they had a group of westerner. We traveled with 2 people with wheelchairs. When we arrived, there were 3 staff hang out at the reception. None of them helped us to bring our luggages and other stuffs. I did not complaint. Just sighed.
Then, when we checked out, it happened again. This time, I saw the staff helping other guests and ignored us. They indeed saw us having difficulty in bringing our luggages and taking care our family with wheelchairs. None of them took initiative to help us. So, I asked, "Why don't you help us?" And, listen to their answer, "Well, Ibu did not ask." What??!! Didn't they see we had trouble in bringing our luggages to cars and pushing the wheelchairs? At least they could help us with the luggages.
I told them, the services of their competitor (same price, almost same location) are much better. We stayed at this good hotel earlier and really disappointed to move to Shankara. The reason we moved to Shankara only because we have paid downpayment. Good...
Read moreThe hotel rooms are individual chalets with attached baths. Our room is a little walk from the hotel lobby passing by the pool and some greens. The outdoor garden is very relaxing and we could gather around have a drink and chit chat. This hotel is walking distance (400m) to Borobudur Temple. When we arrived we were given upgraded rooms although we booked the double rooms with garden view. The staff are very friendly and smiling. The room is spacious and the bed is comfortable The sheets and towels are clean. The bath and the toilet in this hotel is separate. I think it is pretty common in Jogja that the bathroom gets flooded each time we take a shower due to poor drainage. The next day we went out early to catch the sunrise of Borobudur in Sethumbu Hills, when we got back they were so kind to keep some breakfast for us. The breakfast was simple with toast, fried egg, rice and fried chicken and vegetables. instant coffee and tea which was sufficient for us. If you wish to visit Sethumbu Hills and Borobudur Temple to catch the sunrise, this is the best place to stay for a night. ||Cons: The bathroom don't look clean because of the cement furnishing. The shower area should have at least a shower curtain to prevent the water from splashing and wet the whole area around the sink. The drainage systems need to...
