Cirebon, West Java, is a city renowned for its rich culinary heritage, and among its most celebrated treasures is the iconic Nasi Jamblang. While many establishments serve this traditional dish, Nasi Jamblang Bu Nur stands out as a truly legendary institution, offering an experience that transcends mere dining and delves deep into the realm of nostalgia and cherished memories.

What immediately sets Nasi Jamblang apart, even before the first bite, is its distinctive presentation: fluffy white rice elegantly wrapped in a fragrant teak leaf. This humble wrapping adds an earthy aroma and an authentic touch that immediately transports diners back to simpler times, a hallmark of traditional Indonesian street food.

However, the true magic of Nasi Jamblang Bu Nur unfolds with the unparalleled array of side dishes โ€“ an almost overwhelming yet utterly delightful spread of flavors and textures. The variety is astonishing, catering to every palate and preference. From the legendary balakutak (squid cooked in its own ink), a dark, savory, and intensely flavorful delicacy that is a true Cirebon signature, to the more "modern influenced" telur puyuh kecap (quail eggs marinated in sweet soy sauce), the choices are abundant. You'll find everything from fried tempeh and tofu to various meat and vegetable concoctions, each prepared with traditional care and bursting with authentic taste. Selecting your accompaniments from this vibrant spread is an experience in itself, a delightful dance of decision-making.

But beyond the ingredients and techniques, Nasi Jamblang Bu Nur offers an experience that transcends mere eating. Each bite is a journey back in time, invoking a powerful sense of nostalgia. The taste truly brings you to nostalgia, reminiscent of simpler days when this very stall might have been found on a bustling side street, bathed in the soft, flickering glow of an oil lamp. It's a flavor profile deeply rooted in history, a comforting warmth that speaks of home-cooked meals and cherished moments. Every bite is bringing memories, not just of the food itself, but of a cultural heritage lovingly preserved and passed down through generations.

Nasi Jamblang Bu Nur isn't just a meal; it's a culinary legacy. Its enduring popularity stems from its unwavering commitment to authentic flavors and the unique, personal connection it forges with its patrons. For anyone visiting Cirebon, a stop at Nasi Jamblang Bu Nur is not merely recommended, it's essential. Prepare to be enchanted by a dish that is not only delicious but also deeply meaningful, offering a genuine taste of Cirebon's heart and soul, one nostalgic...

Commonly people would like to order empal gentong at the across of these place, but my friend ask me to entering this Nasi jamblang resto because they want to tried it.

In this restaurant, there are many choices of side dishes, you are free to take them, aka the buffet system, then pay for the order at the cashier. There are so many kinds of side dishes, there are seafood satays, various Pepes, various processed chicken, various offal satays, various vegetables or stir-fry, and so on. unless you order empal gentong, you go straight to the cashier and just order, pay, and just wait for your order.

As being well known of culinary place, the price here is relatively expensive. I was bought a pack of Empal gentong with price above 30 thousand rupiahs! waw, it's more expensive than usual. Tastes average. Make sure dont put too much chili cause quite spicy. You can add some fish crackers or skin crackers. Or emping.

Overall the place is good, but it's a bit hot at afternoon because of the lack of ventilation, although few fan were...

When you go to Cirebon, the recommended restaurant in the list is Nasi Jamblang Ibu Nur. This place is famous for its Nasi Jamblang and also for its Empal Gentong. The Nasi Jamblang and Empal Gentong restaurants are on same location and both belong to Ibu Nur. I arrived at the location at 12.30pm and it's a busy time for this restaurant. Each visitor must queue for about 7-10 minutes to select food. I went here when there was still the covid-19 situation, however physical distancing was not implemented properly in this restaurant. I ordered 1 portion of Nasi Jamblang, sambal goreng, tahu kuning, 4 pcs of ikan asin and cumi hitam. Nasi Jamblang tastes just like ordinary rice but the portion is huge. Cumi hitam is savory but a little tough. Tahu kuning and ikan asin are just standard. For the price, the food I ordered costs Rp. 38,000. A bit expensive because there is a large size cumi hitam.
