Animo Bakery x Wichcraft Sandwich Cempaka Putih — Restaurant in Jakarta

I ordered the matcha butterscotch cheese smth.

But when the drink arrived, it looked plain white and came without a straw. I tried rotating the cup to mix it, but nothing changed. The flavor was overwhelmingly butterscotch, and honestly, quite odd for a matcha-based beverage, I thought maybe that’s just how it was supposed to be.

It wasn’t until I had drunk nearly half of it that I noticed clumps of matcha sitting at the bottom. Why wasn’t it mixed properly in the first place? If you’re not going to provide a straw, please make sure the drink is mixed properly beforehand. I asked for a straw, but they said they don’t provide any. I was given a spoon instead. Stirring it was a struggle because the matcha had clumped up so much and I was really swamped with work at the time, so it took me quite a while just to get it properly mixed. I ended up also asking for extra ice just to tone down the strong matcha flavor (since I had already consumed most of the butterscotch earlier, and I ordered a large, so once everything was finally mixed, you can imagine how intense it got).

I actually liked the matcha (once it was mixed properly) and their donuts too. But this experience, and a few others I’ve had here, left a sour note. I usually enjoy staying at coffee shops for hours, but this time I found myself...

This morning, I ordered Es Kopi Susu, Cinnamon Roll, Almond Croissant, and Cinnamon Pistachio. Since I was in hurry to go back home, I didn't check what's in the paperbag nor thinking how could I get 4 items only with around 60k rupiah. I also said I didn't need the bill as well. So, when I arrived back home I just realized that the Almond Croissant is missing. The price still fit with what I got in the paperbag, but it would be nice if I could get them all.

As a first timer to Animo Bakery, the staffs also not really helpful to recommend me anything. I remember when I asked the staff 'any recommendation?', their first answer was 'tergantung selera sih, kak'. It was a correct but of course I know it's all depend on my taste. I wish they can be more helpful to name a few favorite foods and drinks since Animo Bakery offers various foods and beverages.

The best sourdough you can get at a very reasonable price compared to Lees’ products sold at Kemchicks. I tried the original sourdough and it was really chewy and good! And I just bought their Pain de Champagne which was also good! The bakery is small in area size, but the staff is very hospitable and always serve with smile. If you happened to be at jalan Cempaka Putih Raya, you can notice the bakery is just a few meters away from Arandra Residence Apartment. I will try their coffee on my next trip coz I was told that they serve good Coffee too! Keep up the good quality products...
