ARUMA — Restaurant in Jakarta

had a quick lunch with my mom here based on a few second tiktok search. the restaurant was sliiightly smaller than what the pictures gave out, but they installed huge mirrors to give the illusion of a bigger space. one minor thing about the building structure though, kami notice kalau bagian ceiling yang melengkungnya agak kurang rapih HAHA (but no big deal sih, tidak mengganggu experience makannya).

the standard QR menu experience got me thinking maybe it would feel more organic to have physical menus (or maybe they had them and we simply didnt ask). we ordered Aruma’s two best sellers: bone marrow maranggi & daging asap luat. i asked the waitress beforehand about the portion, to which she said one meal could be shared for 2-3 people (this is an important detail).

waiting time was fast considering the restaurant was full. plating-nya “daging asap” was appetizing! loved the colors. tapi kami salfok sama porsi makanannya… cukup kaget karena sangat amat kecil - and this was not an exaggeration. aku dan mama aku itu tipikal orang yang gampang kenyang dan ngga bisa makan banyak, and even for people like us, porsinya pun terlalu dikit - especially mengingat harganya yang pricey (2 menu ini agak mirip sih range-nya, sekitar 129 - 145k. would update if i gave out the wrong price range).

but again, ngga bisa terlalu marah karena rasanya enak. i love bone marrow, dan perpaduan daging sapi maranggi & bone marrow nya cukup “baru” di lidah aku. a pleasant surprise!! although sedikit masukan, daging sapinya agak kurang empuk.

daging asap luat was equally tasty, cuma mungkin karena porsinya terlalu dikit, it wasnt a balanced one, ya… just about 6-7 thinly sliced beef, jadi tiba-tiba udah abis aja. i wasnt sure about what kind of veggies that accompanied the daging asap, but the colors suggested them to have a stronger flavor… only for them to taste quite bland. mungkin emang cuma buat nambahin tekstur di makanannya? not sure about this one too.

we ordered two ice teas (one sweetened and one unsweetened). glasses were kind of small so they told us they could refill the tea once. as a heaaavy drinker (not that kind of drinker), this kind of service was a plus.

the bill came, detailing around 434.000. 2 pax, 2 meals, 2 beverages.

not neeecessarily value for money, but overall still fair if youre here for the...

Came here today (11/08/2024) and had the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I made a reservation at their private room to celebrate my husband’s birthday party with our family. Understanding the buzz, I made a reservation a month in advance, paid the deposit as required, and specifically requested for Plata room (the larger room) and 3 baby chairs. In return I was told that their waiting time was only 15 minutes otherwise my reservation was passed over to other guest.

Today I arrived ON TIME (12:00) and the host directed me to non private room, when I reconfirm that I booked the private room, the host looks confuse and began talking with her peers and scrolling to WhatsApp chat with me. My family and I had to stand for almost 10 minutes just to learn that our room was given to someone else. What’s the point of asking for deposit if you failed to secure my reservation?!

The frustration didn’t stop there. Since our family didn’t fit the smaller room, we were sent downstairs to non private room, and it took NEARLY AN HOUR til we get our drinks! And they only spare us 1 baby chair (while I requested 3 baby chairs a month ago). Imagine all the time and energy wasted?

While this chaotic experience is unacceptable, I still appreciate Mbak Diana for standing right in front our table and tried her best to accomodate our needs. But all in all, this place needs to get their management fixed!

Please don’t bother to try this restaurant and look for some other better options. Not impressed and will not come back for sure. Service was super slow. Had to asked 3 times for just a simple bottle of water. Need to repeat many times to the staff for our order. I asked for a HOT water after meal (and this hot water was charged by the way, not free) and what came to me was a barely warm one, I can still even put my finger inside it right away.

They have a lot of staff but seems like they all don’t know what their doing. We need to keep reminding them many times for our order and we had to wait very very long time. Unbelievably disorganised.

I am very surprised to receive this kind of service in this kind of restaurant with this kind of not so cheap price. If I pay this much, I should receive a way better treatment.

But don’t get me wrong, staff were nice but they were all over the place, not attentive and they don’t remember the order of the particular table that they handled. Definitely need more training.

Food was not bad but not amazing either. Very mediocre. Other place offered better and more organised service for sure.

Another thing, their toilets were very disgusting. Seems like the staff never bothered to clean it and there were barely tissue there....
