Bale Dahar — Restaurant in Jakarta

Arrived around 6 p.m the parking is packed but no trouble. We saw the 1st floor tables were filled so we head to the 2nd floor. However, the AC were just turned on and it's really hot (and smells) so we head back downstairs. We ended up sharing a table with another party. We wanted the Nasi Kuning but they're out so we opted for Nasi Rempah but maintains the topping from Nasi Kuning. We also ordered other stuffs, here's a quick review. Nasi Rempah with Nasi Kuning Topping: 7.1/10, the fried chicken was great, the rest (shredded eggs, ati ampela, sambal, prawn crackers, tempe orek) was alright. The Nasi Rempah itself was alright too. Tahu Isi: 3.7/10, the center was kinda cold and one of us felt undercooked batter. The filling was full and taste good. Garang Asam: 8.5/10, great flavour: savoury, sour, chicken is soft, tender, and juicy. Nasi Pecel: 6/10, a little bit too sweet for our liking. Portion is great. Es Kemesraan: 6/10, dessert with cendol, white bread, fermented cassava (tape), coconut, and jackfruit. It was alright, nothing special. Es Teh Tawar: 5/10, it's an ice tea.

The place and atmosphere is nice and homey. We paid around Rp 300k, seems about right for 3 people. The place is great and while the food isn't bad, it's not...

I ordered 1 nasi kuning and 1 glass of ampula juice and while eating, accidently i dropped the glass and break it. Suddenly the waiter came and change the glass with the new one. I was happy and thought this rest showed a good service to their cust. When i asked for the bill, suddenly came out they charged me with 2 glasses of ampula juice and additional IDR 15.000 for the broken glass. When i asked the waiter why they charged me, she said its an ordered from the boss The food is so so plus bad service....

Authentic Indonesian cuisine with affordable price and cordial service. They spare no effort and ingredients in providing the best food and carefully present it on the plate as if you're eating in a five star hotel restaurant. The waiters/waitresses are also helpful in explaining the menus and they always suggest special menu of the day.

Expect long waiting time, since they also provide delivery service for parties and events. I once waited for an hour...
