How do I know this place? My cousin told me that lawyers often visit the place so he invited me to check the spot. The first thing that comes to my mind is about the price. If anyone is brave enough to post 50k rupiah for a single dish of prawns, I'd better get the quality.
I did. Splendidly even.
It was perhaps one of the better places I've ever visited among the seafood restaurants. When I asked about the fish, the waitress guided me to where it was stored. The fish was buried under ice cubes and I can tell it's fresh, I've had my fair share of scouring the market for groceries with my mother and I can give you my guarantee, the fish is indeed properly stored. You won't always have all kinds of fish available, though, I guess there are seasons to consider too.
While there are 6 main types of seasoning to go to, I personally believe I should check the soy sauce variant. You can impress people with fancy tastes, but I believe in challenging the basics. The difference between good cooks and bad cooks is always visible through simple dishes and Ikan Bakar Manado doesn't disappoint.
The fish got some chars on the skin, but within reasonable limits despite its direct exposure to the fire. However, the meat has that fresh aroma and isn't dry, it maintains its original taste even with the sauce dripping from every bit of it.
The size of the fish threw me off a little, especially when you know that the place determines the price based on the weight of the fish. You can easily get fish which weighs at least 500gr. It's a big one and you definitely can stuff your belly really well with just one dish.
The parking lot is also not suitable for big groups as it can only fit up to 3 small cars like Toyota Agya. The location is close to the train station, though, I can see why you won't need big parking lot with the amount of traffic on the streets.
4/5 star due to high price and small drinks, but overall a good place to eat. Definitely will come back again, maybe later once I get my paycheck in the...
Β Β Β Read moreVery quiet place β in the evening I was the only customer there. I ordered fish and eggplant, both grilled. The eggplant was really good, the fish decent. Iβd rate the food about 7 out of 10. It was a bit hot inside the eatery, as the fans were turned off. There is a sink where you can wash your hands with soap.
Menu prices are listed without tax (an extra 10% VAT is added to the bill). Prices are on the high side β for a medium-sized fish, rice, eggplant, and a Fanta-like drink I was charged 183,000 IDR, which doesnβt quite match the quantity and quality of the food compared to...
Β Β Β Read moreA small restaurant and the location is a bit hidden, but surprisingly good and fresh seafood. Considerably cheap too. Don't forget to taste the sambal, yummy and hot. The problem is if we order grilled fish, it will take very long to cook, particularly when the restaurant full of customers, expect long wait for your order. But it's worth to...
