Marugame Udon, Danau Sunter Utara — Restaurant in Jakarta

Went here at around 8 PM and stayed till closing time. The outlet here in sunter is quite spacious, and honesty a very cozy place to chill and meetup with business partners/friends. The ordering system is sort of a self-service,

Ordered the beef udon, along with some tempuras (my favorite one is the kakiage, which are mixed vegetables coated in tempura batter and deep fried). Dont forget to drench your tempuras with the tangy sweet tempura sauce, it really adds to the flavor and elevates your meal if you're into sweet food. Back to the udon, the broth tastes very light but very rich in flavor (much richer compared to the marugame udon outlets in Japan). For the noodles, the udon has a nice thick and springy texture, perfectly compatible with the rich broth it comes with (tho it falls in comparison to the ones I had in Japan). portion-wise it is just okay, not very filling in my personal opinion but the addition of the tempura helps to cover that issue out. The price is fairly standard at around 60-100k per person, depends on how much tempura you order. Its definitely a nice comfort meal.

Went here for a Quick Lunch and ordered 2 of their Udon menu, Gyu Jiru Udon / Grilled Beef Udon and their Beef Carbonara Udon. Their soup base for the Beef Udon were very light yet rich in flavor, the beef slices were well balanced in flavor its a saltier udon compared to their Beef Carbonara which is very creamy and a little bit sweet both of the Udon Noodles had the same bouncy and springy texture which is very good. The drinks their offer were a lots, i went for the classic Lemon Tea / Ocha which both of them were refill-able. Overall a great udon chain that you could find...

Prominent location and standalone eating house. Lower middle class dining crowd. Could be a little messy in the self service desk. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Speak decent English to carry out transactions. Standard Japanese udon options are safe bets but local market creations like carbonara udon do not attempt. It's dry udon paired with Japanese kewpie mayo and some lousy non pork sausages that is dry salty. Fried stuff are another area where traditional Japanese options are genuine bets. Prawns are good.
