Basically a very good place to dine in. It is clean, all air conditioned and refreshingly decorated with oceanic digital prints - plastic flower plants partially on the ceiling here and there.
Typically a joint that offers seafood, you have to come several times to actually enjoy what it has on the menu.
I came twice already, the first was a pick up food mode in the middle of peak hours one sunday evening, and then a group dining out on a monday evening.
The crew was quite susceptible and very nicely done all in all. Bravo!👏😍
The food itself, aha, it needs more oomph, like that of a signature dish, couple dishes would be nicer^^ Crabs, shrimps, kudu2, clamps, noodles were nice, if not less than its peers. Vegetables were lacking of attention, as usual in this typical of an eatary. Ohya, it has only bintang beer, a local brand.
It has around 200 seating capacity, and several vip rooms with around 15 caps.
So, here is the thing, I havent been here since the pandemonium wreak its havoc in my city, and yesterday I dine in finally. It was good, the food is improving in taste and freshness. But alas, I did not think the bobba drinks and croffles manage to be in the seafood monster's standard. They are just mediocre if not less than...
Read moreI'm so happy Sea Monsters opens up in Jakarta! This beloved seafood place has legendary status in it's city of birth, Surabaya. The restaurant itself is located in Sunter. Building is quite big, customers are comfortably spaced during the pandemic. Decor is nothing special, but everything is clean, hygienic and very well lit. 2nd floor is for VIP rooms complete with karaoke in each room. Now let's talk about food. Hum-ba-du-dah! Loveeeeee the food!!! The Kerang Kapak is absolutely my favorite, good both in cheese-curry or steamed with garlic and soy sauce. Soft shell crab cooked with salted duck egg is simply divine. Kerapu cooked HK steam with soy sauce is a great standard and their version doesn't disappoint. Some kind of flat fish grilled with garlic isn't too bad, the meat is excellent although the seasoning wasn't my favorite. The veggies are all pretty good, I especially like the baby asparagus and baby string bean. Even the fresh coconut is perfect to my liking, both the taste and how they chill the whole coconut.
Price is surprisingly affordable! I could imagine paying the north of 50% more in other similar restaurants.
Will I come back? Definitely, every week! Dang I'm so happy...
Read moreA must try. Yummy, healthy and fresh sea food. My personal fave is the buttered shrimp. They have a variety of choices that I have to try next time. There is also a pantry full of different kinds of sauce to experiment with. Just make sure to wash your hands before and after taking. They have fresh fruit juices and milk tea, too! The service is great. Staff are well uniformed (with mask, face shield and gloves), helpful, kind and fast. The place is big and well-ventilated, not too crowded, well-lit and clean. They also have some VIP rooms, if you want a more peaceful and safe dining out with your family. The parking space is also huge. And oh, they also have a fast internet wifi, to make your kid occupied while you enjoy your food (you know what I mean, moms?!) I like everything except for the prices, as they are quite expensive for me so I can't afford to eat as often as I would like to. I hope they could lower them down next time... or offer vouchers and coupons......
