There is nothing good that I can say about my dining experience here. It's better to close the restaurant for a day or two if you don't have enough ingredients and manpower on Eid al-Fitr instead of disappointing a bunch of customers. Taste wise, nothing was special here. It couldn't even beat Vietnamese restaurants in the shopping malls, don't even imagine comparing it to the real ones in Vietnam. I don't understand why a lot of people were raving about this restaurant. The dining service was very unpleasant and amenities were bad. They had a dirty squatting toilet for customers.
There were only 1 waiter and 2 cooks when I was dining here and it was a full house. Each staff was overworked. The waiter didn't even have time to take a note of the orders and she messed up big time when we were there, creating tension between customers. She served another customer's bun cha gio to my table making him complained and kept eyeing on my table when we were eating it. Later, she forgot to serve the veggies for another customer's pho, making him complained, and she did it for a second time with my pho, so, we had to complain as well. When she was serving the veggies, she told the other customer and us that she forgot to tell us that they're out of bay leaf, hoisin sauce and Sriracha sauce. Since she forgot that they're out of hoisin sauce, she served the other customer's spring rolls without it, making him complained loudly for the second time. Later, she served our banh mi to other customers, skipping us twice even though we were the first to come. This unprofessionalism created a bad atmosphere in the dining room since a lot of customers was yelling at her and eyeing each other due to her mistakes in serving the dishes. We even had a fight with another customer due to the banh mi mistake. Instead of apologising, the waiter was yelling at us as well. Lastly, she told us that she forgot our spring rolls order since they're out of spring rolls.
It's a very unprofessional and dirty restaurant. Nothing was commendable in terms of taste and service. They didn't even have complete ingredients for any dishes and they expected the customers to pay in full without informing us. I would say that this restaurant was very deceitful....
Read moreI was there several years ago when I truly thought it was pretty decent. A few months ago and thought it had gone downhill some. Today I went back to give it another chance as I love Pho. I've had Pho in Saigon Town in San Francisco. Had Pho in Ho Chi Minh. I eat quite a bit of Pho so I'm pretty familiar with it. First of all, I entered the restaurant around lunch time. I was the only person in there. Workers were napping on the table. Okay, no problem. Air con was never turned on so it was a bit warm. I ordered their primary Pho with the beef on the side. I tried to order their fresh spring roll but they "ran out." I also ordered their Vietnamese Ice Coffee, which was fine and a glass of water, which never came. The meat did come on the side but looked rather old and was very little in quantity. Service and food were pretty poor. I did ask if Pho Vietnam was the same owner. I am not sure whether she understood me but she said yes. I was there last week and it was better, perhaps because there were more customers and a higher turnover. I will not go back to Pho Saigon again I am sorry to say. Atmosphere was mediocre at best. Food was...
Read moreUnassuming, modest, and borderline sketchy pho shop from the front. Came on sunday afternoon and place was empty, only 1 table filled from all 6 tables inside. There were only 1 waiter/cashier/server and 1 cook. Ordered 3 pho bo (all-meat and also mixed) and vietnamese spring roll. Waited around 15~20 minutes for the pho and another 10 mins for the spring roll (appetizer came out last idk why). Surprisingly the broth was light and warm, a little bit oily but still fresh with the lime juice. Generous portion of juicy and tender meat and tendon, also 2 meatballs. Portions were huge, i had difficulty finishing the whole bowl! Basil and beansprout were served separately on a single plate for 3 pho.
Spring roll also tasted fresh and crunchy, but we didn't like the dipping/dressing sauce. Tasted more like rujak dressing for me. Also, they only have mineral water for beverage. There weren't any extra condiment available neither.
But overall, we all loved the pho. Would come back for more, only wishing they would improve their atmosphere...
